TV show description:
This musical comedy series comes from animated musical veterans Dan Fogelman (writer), Alan Menken (composer), and Glenn Slater (lyricist). It revolves around a dashing hero who once lost the love of his life to an evil king. It’s now time for the hero to exact his revenge and restore his “happily ever after.”
Charming and handsome, Galavant (Joshua Sasse) is a gallant knight and hero so beloved that he is known by just one name. When he goes to save the love of his life, Madalena (Mallory Jansen), after she was kidnapped by the evil King Richard (Timothy Omundson), she rejects Galavant.
He proclaims that all he has to offer her is his love and it seems that the demanding beauty would prefer a life of fame and fortune over love. So, she marries the King.
Since then, Galavant has gone broke, stopped bathing, and has gained weight — most likely due to his penchant for libations. Sid (Luke Youngblood) is Galavant’s trusty squire who assists the fallen hero in keeping his life in order as best he can. Adopted as a baby, Sid was left on an older couple’s doorstep.
Notorious for his evil ways, King Richard indulges in such hobbies as raising taxes and tormenting the poor. The evil king isn’t as tough as you might think however. One insult from Madalena and he bursts into tears. Gareth (Vinnie Jones) is the king’s rough and tough right-hand henchman who often has to instruct the king on how to be more manly in his ways.
Spunky Princess Isabella (Karen David) — whose full name is Princess Isabella Lucia Maria Elizabetta of Valencia — seeks out and engages the depressed Galavant in order to save her people from King Richard. She’s sent by the king to lure Galavant to him so that King Richard can kill the fallen hero in front of his former flame, Madalena.
Episode #18 — The One True King (To Unite Them All)
Under Madalena and Wormwood’s spell, the zombie army revolts against Galavant. Meanwhile, Richard goes after Wormwood. Elsewhere, Gareth tries to reason with Madalena, but she is driven to learn how to use her newly acquired dark magic.
First aired: January 31, 2016.
What do you think? Do you like the Galavant TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
We love this show! Please do not cancel
Love Love Love this show. Please bring it back. So nice to have something different that is fun to watch.
Please DON’T cancel!! The show is very entertaining.
I hope this show doesn’t get canceled. My family, friends, and I are enjoying this show.
My family is enjoying the check out of this show! It’s different, fun, and silly. The songs are hilarious. I hope it lasts longer than 4 weeks, but I’m sure it will be cancelled. All the best funny, quirky shows are. sigh.
I think the Galavant is a bit silly and for a particular audience. Not everyone will like it, I’ll bet. I am waiting for Once Upon a Time to return – that is all I have to say.
This was a surprise. I can’t believe something SO different would come along in 2015. I was not expecting to watch the whole episode but Idid and I enjoyed it. It WAS different and we NEED different. The last one I saw where we saw Sid engaged and the whole town doing a hilarious song made me laugh out loud. Loved Hugh Baumont as the Pirate. Really fun, frivolous tv . My friends are now watching it. It just might surprise us all and catch on. After all, Happy Days did!
For some reason, a lot of people have missed that this is a one time short lived series of four weeks. It will be gone in a four weeks because it was always supposed to be gone in four weeks. It was not that bad and had some funny moments. I like the change with this kind of show. Its a little Monty Python, a little Robin Hood Men in Tights, When Things were Rotten (as mentioned above) and even a little Blackadder. I also look forward to the return of Once Upon a Time, but maybe we need a… Read more »
“Its a little Monty Python, a little Robin Hood Men in Tights”
Except they actually knew comedy and were funny…..This was pretty much pure ham, but you were right about not realizing it was short lived anyway.
I got the impression this was a one-shot four-episode show. It’s a musical, so I don’t expect it to be loigical or make sense. Reminds me a lot of “When Things Were Rotten,” which most of you won’t remember. It lasted only one season, which was too bad, because it was funny. “Galavant” has its moments, but I don’t see it going very far.
Ok! I have no problem with the idea of a musical comedy, but one that actually shows talent and knows comedy. This show has talented performers, but the story spoof and the so called comedy was so poor that I didn’t even make it to the half way point. I think this will fall really fast. I predict it’ll be gone within weeks. It did have a good trailer though. As for the idea of a musical series. I just don’t think people would turn in for long unless the music was more contemporary, and the humor was really creative… Read more »
I have to agree with you. I like the idea of musical comedy on TV, but damn…if you’re going to try something like this, if you can’t seem to get a decent score together you have to at least add some real comedy…the spoof isn’t enough. Perhaps I didn’t give the show a fair shake (I could only stand half an hour-ish of it) but I swear, if I heard that theme song music one more time I was going to be physically sick….everywhere.
It was had to watch .I kept thinking it would get better but it didn’t. Makes ya wonder who thinks up this crap.
FANTASTIC and an extremely welcome breath of fresh air!
Premier just ended, was a bit surprised at first but after 20 minutes or so got the hang of it. It’s like a Disney musical only dark and not at all G rated. Kind of reminded me of A Knight’s Tale, with music….I’ll for sure watch next week but I have a feeling it’s doomed.
if there is one show that needs to be canceled it,s this show!
You’re crazy, this was very funny, maybe you just didn’t get it.
Is this the best thing to ever happen to television? No way. However, this is a nice silly (in a good way) and fun show, although not always funny. Although it will wear thin I enjoyed it and I will watch the four weeks of shows.
