Looks like CBS is unfriending God Friended Me. CBS just announced they’ve cancelled the TV show after two seasons, Deadline reports.
The series revolves around a thoughtful and outspoken podcaster named Miles (Brandon Micheal Hall) whose life is turned upside down when he receives a friend request on social media from a user named “God.” The cast also includes Violett Beane, Joe Morton, Suraj Sharma, Javicia Leslie, and Erica Gimpel, with Adam Goldberg and Jessica Lu recurring.
The second season of God Friended Me is averaging a 0.67 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.24 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 25% in the demo by down by 20% in viewership. That’s quite a dip in the ratings for the CBS TV show
What do you think? Do you watch God Friended Me? Would you have watched season three?
One of the few upbeat programs on TV lately. A major disappointment that it has been cancelled !!!!!!
I watch this pleasant uplifting show every week. It reminds me of Heaven Can Wait and Touched By An Angel. TV needs positive shows! I am very sorry to hear this has not been renewed!
I am actually crying finding out that God friended me has been canceled I love this show and look forward to it every Sunday night! The back stories are so strong that I cry at every episode!
CBS gave this show the worst time slot and set it up for failure. My grandmother and I love this show. I would have to call her to tell her it’s on after football. We never knew when it would be on during the season. Maybe they should have cut 60 minutes so the show could come on as planned. This show had everything for everyone friendship, love, family, and real life conflicts. It’s showed the human condition on various levels. I loved the reoccurring characters from people they helped that showed how we are all connected. I only watch… Read more »
This is the only show I actually watch on tv so of course you have cancelled it. As others have mentioned it is so rare to find a show that is posative where people are helping each other rather than violent and scheming.
I will say however that when you made Kara and Miles break up you sort of doomed the show and it sort of took the spark out of it.
I hate it that shows are cancelled with no resolution. So we will never know who was behind the God account.
My wife and children have made it a point to watch God Friended Me since the first episode. My wife and daughter first saw it in a marketing study group. We find the show intriguing, funny, dramatic and interesting, with topics that effect all of us, without the blood and gore.
There are so many more story lines and directions this show can approach.
We are disappointed the show is cancelled. Hopefully the series finale can answer some of the unresolved questions the characters have.
This is all CBS’s fault. The ratings fell because we didn’t know when the show was going to air all season. They award shows on Sunday nights that pre-emoted God Friended Me. Unless someone was a diehard fan. They didn’t see it. That’s the bottom line. JMHO
I agree
Bummer! I REALLY like the show and am shocked/disappointed that it’s being cancelled.
I Love this show & it’s message to Humanity & our Difficult world! I eagerly request that Season 3 definitely happens!! We who are fans watch for the Comforts this fabulous cast & writers have brought those of us many committed fans!! Encore, “God Friended Me”!!!!!!
I’m very disappointed in the cancellation of God Friended Me. That was our Sunday night regimen. It was so great having a show that wasn’t about cops, deaths and murders. To me it was a ground breaker for family TV. Will truly be missed
Wow! I’m surprised. Thought God Friended Me was a great show. Loved the concept. Hope the studio has a change of heart.
Such a great show. An uplifting show if ever I saw one. Please CBS reconsider
Please renew
A very positive show
Very sorry that CBS decided to cancel God Friended Me. I enjoyed the show and there are so few programs that are family-friendly.
My favorite show on TV. Make it a point to watch “live” each Sunday w girlfriend. Like church without the trappings if organized religion. Will direct miss it
I love this show, and hate to see it go. I would have definitely watched a third season and more. It’s great to have a show the whole family can watch. CBS may lose me as a viewer if this keeps up. Not only are they canceling “God Friended Me” but they cancelled “Hawaii Five-O”. I’m still not over the whole “Jericho” fiasco, and they have that aberration of a reboot “Magnum P I ” (of which I have never seen, nor ever will I watch an episode).
I watched GFM every Sunday. I enjoyed it, but, I was surprised that it was given a second season. It was almost like that 1950’s show, The Millionaire. This rich guy gave a million dollars to random people and it followed the person to see what they did with their million (at that time..it was a LOT of money). This show is about a guy getting random friend requests from someone identifying himself as God, and his quest to find out WHO is really sending these requests. It was an hour of entertainment with no agenda.
