After 13 years of movies and TV show episodes, magic is leaving the town of Middleton. Hallmark Channel has decided to end the Good Witch series so there won’t be an eighth season. The series finale airs on Sunday, July 25th.
A fantasy comedy-drama series, Good Witch stars Catherine Bell, James Denton, Sarah Power, Catherine Disher, Kylee Evans, Katherine Barrell, Marc Bendavid, and Scott Cavalheiro. Set in the town of Middleton, the show follows Cassandra “Cassie” Nightingale (Bell). She’s the owner of a shop called Bell, Book & Candle and is married to Dr. Sam Radford (Denton). Like her daughter Grace, Cassie has the gift of enchanted insight and magical intuition. The velvet pouches of soil discovered by Cassie, Abigail (Power), and Joy (Barrell) at the end of season six mark the start of a new Merriwick mystery for the cousins to unravel. This leads them to reflect on their pasts and how certain life events have impacted who they are now. Alongside the usual Middleton fun, season seven promises new relationships, personal challenges, and romance.
The seventh season of Good Witch is averaging a 0.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.53 viewers in the live+same day ratings. Compared to season six, that’s down by 29% in the demo and down by 18% in viewership. It’s one of Hallmark’s lowest-rated series but still does pretty well when compared to other cable dramas.
Here’s the series ending announcement from Hallmark:

I am sorry to see that The Good Witch is ending. I hope that in the future the series will be offered on the HallmarkNow streaming channel along with movies which I have found very enjoyable
I think it’s very very sad that they’re taking one of my favorite shows off the air It’s really really hard to wrap my mind around and tragic. I look forward to it every Sunday, and I’ve watched the reruns forever. I think they should rethink their decision. Perhaps some more movies if not the series, I for one do not want the series to end
Absolutely a poor decision from hallmark. You just keep going farther away from what viewers like and you are damaging your own image. Good bye Hallmark . You made a big mistake with this cancellation
I think there are too many shows being canceled
And shows that should never happen make it to air and should never be on air at all
I wish they change there minds
I am so tired of neworks canceling shows I watch. I am a big fan of Hallmark and vey dissapointed that this will be the last season for the good witch. If the ratings are low maybe give it a better time slot during the week instead of playing Christmas shows all year long. Don’t get me wrong i love the christmas shows but they don’t need to show them all year long.
I love this show very sad this is ending. Every season can’t wait till the next one starts. Now back to watch the younger actors do there series. Nothing matches Good Witch.
Very disappointed in hearing about the cancellation of Good Witch. I feel this show is excellent and could only hope that Hallmark reconsiders. It is a wonderful show with wholesome messages that are enlightening.
Can’t believe Good Witch has been cancelled! How can you resolve all the new & old relationships in 2 episodes?!
I agree with everyone. This is one of the best shows on Hallmark And regular TV. Demographics sometimes stinks. These younger people are into reality TV and not a show that is about friends helping friends and family looking out for each other. Been watching since the first move with Chris Potter with Catherine Bell. Watching the kids grow up into responsible adults. Love the show. Sorry to see it go. Looked forward to it starting up each season.
What a disappointment. Hallmark used to be my favorite but with canceling GW and the stupid sitcoms I am done.
Awwww you killed it with such irregular schedule
So sad to see this show go, watched it from the start and all the movies. Love when they would have a marathon with all the movies, spent the day enjoying all of them. There are not many shows to watch nowadays that take us away from reality, this was one of them!! there was no politics !! just great friendships, love and magic!! Wish they make more shows like this.
Hallmark and other networks need to stop cancelling the best shows. the Good Witch is one of the best family oriented shows on today. It’s tragic that it was cancelled. I will have to stop watching Hallmark now.
I have enjoyed the series am sorry to see it go
This was the ONLY series I watched. The Good Witch was fantastic. Loved the stories and the cast! But Hallmark has gone SO downhill. Even their movies are terrible. Their changes have caused this channel to suffer. Just my opinion.
