After 13 years of movies and TV show episodes, magic is leaving the town of Middleton. Hallmark Channel has decided to end the Good Witch series so there won’t be an eighth season. The series finale airs on Sunday, July 25th.
A fantasy comedy-drama series, Good Witch stars Catherine Bell, James Denton, Sarah Power, Catherine Disher, Kylee Evans, Katherine Barrell, Marc Bendavid, and Scott Cavalheiro. Set in the town of Middleton, the show follows Cassandra “Cassie” Nightingale (Bell). She’s the owner of a shop called Bell, Book & Candle and is married to Dr. Sam Radford (Denton). Like her daughter Grace, Cassie has the gift of enchanted insight and magical intuition. The velvet pouches of soil discovered by Cassie, Abigail (Power), and Joy (Barrell) at the end of season six mark the start of a new Merriwick mystery for the cousins to unravel. This leads them to reflect on their pasts and how certain life events have impacted who they are now. Alongside the usual Middleton fun, season seven promises new relationships, personal challenges, and romance.
The seventh season of Good Witch is averaging a 0.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.53 viewers in the live+same day ratings. Compared to season six, that’s down by 29% in the demo and down by 18% in viewership. It’s one of Hallmark’s lowest-rated series but still does pretty well when compared to other cable dramas.
Here’s the series ending announcement from Hallmark:

STUDIO CITY, CA – July 9, 2021 – Hallmark Channel announced today the series finale of the network’s original primetime show, “Good Witch.”
“‘Good Witch’ has enchanted viewers for over a decade with eight original movies, in addition to the seven-season series,” said Randy Pope, SVP, programming & development. “We thank our leads whose chemistry and talent made ‘Good Witch’ such a beloved and uniquely special viewing experience: Catherine Bell, who has brought the inimitable Cassie Nightingale to life for 13 years, and James Denton, who as Dr. Sam Radford has added so much charm and humor to the series. Catherine Bell has starred as the lead character Cassie Nightingale for magical 13 years when Hallmark viewers were first introduced to her in the 2008 original movie “The Good Witch.” The popularity of Cassie and her adventures in the bucolic town of Middleton led to seven more movies. I am very angry to hear this. I have watched Good Witch from the very beginning. It relaxes me. I love the characters, especially The Mayor. Will you be bringing us something just as entertaining or will you leave us out to dry?
Terrible decision to end this show. One of the reasons I watch Hallmark channel. Not a smart decision
I have been a faithful viewer of The Good Witch from the start. I am disappointed to see the series end. I know it’s all about the $$$ for the folks that make the decisions at Hallmark, but quality TV programming is hard to find and cancelling TGW reduces the viewing options for those of us that like our programming without profanity, near nudity, and violence.
I can’t believe you are not renewing the Good Witch. I have enjoyed every movie and the series. I think you are making a big mistake.
This makes me very sad.
I’ve Watched The Good Witch from it’s first movie episode! I’ve been a faithful watcher throughout it’s many years on the air..
The Good Witch is the Only Reason I watch Hallmark Channel, when it goes… I Go!!
Well Hallmark in killing the only series we watch on it ! Goodbye Hallmark and your movies on paid cable
I have been watching since the very first movie..season 1..I’m very heartbroken that they did this..what a great cast and an amazing show.. cancelling my Hallmark channel!
I have to agree with “Chow” really hate to see it end, especially so abruptly. Please reconsider. At least give us/them one more season to tie up all loose ends. 2 seasons more if needed. Please!
So disappointed. Love this show and the actors on it!
Good clean entertainment & not a fan of survival and dating shows bombarding the networks.
My family’s disappointed to see Good Witch end. We DID prefer Cassie’s first husband, butstuck with it anyway. Seems lots of favorites are watered down, especially Teagarten Mysteries, 101, etc. As if hurrying to get on air. Try for quality rather than quantity or hire better writers!
Love good witch!
Very VERY sorry that the show is ending….and without a final Halloween movie. I have noticed the writing was not up to par in season 7, so although I’m sorry to see it go, I understand why and its not a surprise to hear that its ending. I’ve watched all things Good Witch since the first film. Its never fun when a favorite series is canceled. I feel like I’m losing friends.
Oh no! Please reconsider
Please DO NOT CANCELL THE SHOW I LOVE GOOD WITCH. ITS HARD TO SEE CAUSE WE DO NOT HAVE CANLE.
My wife and I have watched Good Witch from the beginning and have never missed an episode. It is a better show than some of the other shows on Hallmark. So sorry for the loss.
