Case closed. Court is dismissed. Harry’s Law has been cancelled by NBC after two seasons and 34 episodes.
Harry’s Law revolves around Harriet Korn, a no-nonsense attorney who will take on just about any case as long as she believes in a person’s innocence. Over the course of two seasons, the cast has also included Nate Corddry, Karen Olivo, Justine Lupe, Mark Valley, Christopher McDonald, Brittany Snow, and Aml Ameen.
The show debuted in January 2011 to a 2.2 in the 18-49 demographic with 11.07 million viewers. It was a mediocre demo rating but total viewership was impressive and when you’re NBC, that’s better than nothing. The ratings dwindled downward pretty quickly and the show ended the season with a 1.4 demo rating and 7.75 million.
The series was on the bubble for cancellation but NBC brought it back for a second season. For season two, the show underwent some cast changes, no doubt in hopes of improving the ratings. It didn’t work.

This season, Harry’s Law has averaged a meager 1.1 rating in the desirable demographic and 7.89 million viewers.
On our NBC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative success of shows on the network, Harry’s Law has a “D+” grade and is one of the lowest-rated shows on NBC.
While it’s the second most-watched show on the network, advertisers want to advertise on shows that attract a younger demographic and so the networks must cater to them.
Sadly, the peacock network has cancelled Harry’s Law this time around and the series finale will air next Sunday night. Hopefully the show won’t end on a cliffhanger, making it all the harder for fans to say goodbye.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Harry’s Law go? Which season did you like better? What would you have liked to see happen in season three?

I am sorry to hear NBC made this choice. You screwed up when you moved Harry’s Law to Sunday’s time slot, when most people are getting ready for a work week, or in church. Smart thinking. It appears you were only looking for an excuse to cancel a worthwhile show, and replace it with some vampire garbage. Kudos to NBC, you’ll probably lose a lot of viewers over this. AND< whoever does your ratings has no clue what they are doing! I personally know of a lot of people who watch Harry's Law and enjoy it.
I am 18-39- right in the middle at 29 and I LOVE this show. I really hope HBO or Netflix or something picks it up. Kathy Bates is my favourite actress.
Harry’s Law with a charming ensemble led by Kathy Bates has been most enjoyable for two seasons and hopefully a wiser network will pick it up for a third, fourth, fifth…season. It crossed and recrossed the line from comedy to drama and back again. . .it never failed to entertain. The talent of the cast, the writers and director were too successful to be cancelled. NBC please consider returning Harry’s Law to your next season. The loss of this creation is a loss for everyone.
Devastated!! I love this show. It was wonderfully acted. It was interesting to watch. I so looked forward to watching each episode. Please give this a second chance.
What a stupid reason for canceling a good show. NBC lives up to its reputation again!!!
[…] Update: Harry’s Law has been cancelled after two seasons. […]
Harry’s Law :
well written, well acted, intelligent entertainment (rare)
Kathy Bates – The Best
NBC – BIG mistake to cancel this
How could NBC cancel one of the best shows on tv. It is the only show beside Law & Order that I watched. Please reconsider and bring Harrys Law back or perhaps another channel might pick it up.
I am very sorry to see that NBC is canceling Harry’s Law. It was one of the best shows that I feel was, both entertaining, and almost real like to watch. I often wondered if some of these cases, on Harry’s Law, was taken from actual court trials? If not, the show had some good writers. I hope that NBC will resend their decision on canceling the show…
I am 21 and I loved the show. I was so thrilled when harry’s law filled the void left from Boston Legal’s departure from television. Now I m equally dissatisfied. Instead of catering to the youth of America, let us broaden the demographic’s pallet. Harry may not have the “glamour” of a Kardashian, but she has 10000 times the substance. NBC is taking the reality approach to tv; feeding the awful reality of NBC’s targeted demographic. I am quite honestly tired of being abused by the short attention span of my age group. I do not have a vote. My… Read more »
Very bad decision by NBC. I’m getting pretty tired of hearing about the 18-49 demographics and how the advertisers cater to them. I’m nearly sixty and am fed up with banal and inane reality and comedy shows, with trashy and morally-challenged actors, that gear themselves to the lowest common denominator of viewer. It’s disrespectful and downright insulting. So the 50+ demographics don’t count? Are we so unworthy, both financially and socially that no advertiser will target or include us? Or are we expected to watch Off Their Rockers until we all die off? I liked Harry’s Law. Yes, it was… Read more »
I can’t believe that NBC would cancel the 2nd most watched show they air. Like an above comment I don’t like Reality Shows, I don’t watch them and have wondered why if one reality show is popular they put on 10 more just like it. This is one of the reasons I watch the majority of my shows on CBS. Maybe one of the other channels will pick it up and let it play straight through the whole season. I am very disappointed, I looked forward to “Harry’s Law” every week.
WISE UP!!!!
The biggest problem with NBC in my opinion is there is nothing to watch on their channel except law and order and Harry’s Law. The messed around with Harry’s Law since the first season, six episodes here, six episodes there. They never allowed it to play in longer intervals. ABC and CBS at least have found a few shows that have become top shows, Once Upon a Time, Revenge and Missing are action packed, a person sits on the edge of their seats for these types of shows. I personally only watch a handful of shows and NBC has nothing… Read more »
What is a matter with advertisers and networks these days? Harry’s law is/was a great show with quality writing and one of the best casts in a long time. Why does everyone have to cater to 18- 49 year olds? In case you people have noticed, the buying power of the US is clearly in the hands of the 40- 65 demographic. By the time you have preached 40 you are usually firmly ensconced in your career and are at the pinnacle of your buying power. I think that the whole industry with the exception of a handful of shows… Read more »
Unbelievable. Some set of half wit comedies will probably replace Harry’s Law. We love to watch Kathy Bates work . . . can’t fathom what is wrong with NBC. They moved her twice – and wonder why they don’t build a viewer base – and the move to Sunday night is always the death knell for drama. For crying out loud – no more reality TV. We are sad over this loss.
