National Geographic is exploring the origin of Ebola. Deadline reports the network has ordered a new TV show called The Hot Zone.

Based on the book by Richard Preston, the scripted drama “recounts the terrifying true story of the origins of Ebola, a deadly and highly infectious virus from the central African rainforest, and its first arrival on U.S. soil.”

Ridley Scott will executive produce The Hot Zone for National Geographic Channel alongside producers Lynda Obst Productions and Fox 21 Television Studios.
