TV show description:
Based on the James Patterson novel, Murder Games, the Instinct TV show is a crime thriller from creator Michael Rauch. The drama centers on Dr. Dylan Reinhart (Cumming), a former CIA operative who is enjoying a peaceful interlude as a university professor and author, when his old life beckons for him to return.
Reinhart is teaching psychopathic behavior when NYPD Detective Lizzie Needham (Novakovic) seeks his help in catching a serial killer. It seems the murderer is using the professor’s first book as his training manual.
Although Dylan has grown accustomed to his student’s enthusiasm and adoration, Detective Needham isn’t one to take “No,” for an answer. He agrees to leave his comfortable retirement behind, in order to work this compelling case.
Dylan’s old CIA colleague, Julian Cousins (Andrews), is every bit as bright as the professor and excels at getting the goods on anyone he targets. Meanwhile, Lt. Jasmine Gooden (Leal) is happy to see her sharpest detective accept help on any case. Lizzie has refused to partner with anyone, since a tragedy occurred, a year ago.
Although working the case gives Dylan a new sense of purpose and vitality, his husband, Andy (Ings), worries his spouse has forsaken their agreement to permanently leave his past in the past. While things are bumpy between Dylan and Lizzie at the outset, they soon learn that together, they make one heck of a team.
Series Finale:
Episode #24 — Grey Matter
A gruesome discovery in a city pond leads Dylan and Lizzie to investigate a young man’s murder, while Andy rescues one of Dylan’s students from a legal bind.
First aired: August 25, 2019.
What do you think? Do you like the Instinct TV series? Should this CBS TV show have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Can’t believe they cancelled it. It was a bright light in a dismal sea of reality garbage. Quit making that scripted reality stuff and keep this show.
This is an amazing show, CBS please reverse your decision and renew this show!! The characters have great chemistry and work well together! I’m hoping Julian and Lizzie rekindle their relationship! If CBS doesn’t bring this show back I hope one of the other networks will pick it up!
This is a great show. What is CBS thinking ??????????
I was hoping this show would be renewed. I really enjoy the plots and the character interactions.
Omg please keep this show!! Intelligent, well executed!! I’m so sick of those in charge taking away great shows like this.
Take away the mind numbing crap like survivor!!
i don’t know who makes these decisions, but this is a great show. stop all the reality tv BS and give us good tv fiction like instinct!
Love this show….why cancel a great show like this…….bring it back
!!!
I LOVE that show! I can’t believe it’s going to be cancelled! It has good plot twists and keeps one on the edge of his/her seat.
Good show. Should be renewed !!!
Love this show! It seems like CBS cancels any show that isn’t mindless crap.
Great show!!! The acting was very good and the chemistry between the actors made a real difference. Love Alan Cumming acting for a long time.
I wonder about CBS thinking. There are several nights a week that there programing is mindless. We need this program and a few others like it on TV.
I agree and hope that Netflix or another station picks this up.
Too good to cancel – hope another network picks it up.
I enjoy Instinct. Find it clever when solving cases, and also has human interest as far as the characters and their interactions. Don’t think it should be cancelled.
They should move Instinct to Netflix. The demographic on CBS is too old to enjoy.
I am so sad that they are cancelling the show. It is so good. They should consider bringing it back or maybe another network will pick it up, like what happened to Brooklyn Nine Nine.
Enjoyed show and hard to get ratings during the summer on Sunday nights. Alan Cummings I saw such a talented actor…remember The Good wife
