TV show description:
Based on the James Patterson novel, Murder Games, the Instinct TV show is a crime thriller from creator Michael Rauch. The drama centers on Dr. Dylan Reinhart (Cumming), a former CIA operative who is enjoying a peaceful interlude as a university professor and author, when his old life beckons for him to return.
Reinhart is teaching psychopathic behavior when NYPD Detective Lizzie Needham (Novakovic) seeks his help in catching a serial killer. It seems the murderer is using the professor’s first book as his training manual.
Although Dylan has grown accustomed to his student’s enthusiasm and adoration, Detective Needham isn’t one to take “No,” for an answer. He agrees to leave his comfortable retirement behind, in order to work this compelling case.
Dylan’s old CIA colleague, Julian Cousins (Andrews), is every bit as bright as the professor and excels at getting the goods on anyone he targets. Meanwhile, Lt. Jasmine Gooden (Leal) is happy to see her sharpest detective accept help on any case. Lizzie has refused to partner with anyone, since a tragedy occurred, a year ago.
Although working the case gives Dylan a new sense of purpose and vitality, his husband, Andy (Ings), worries his spouse has forsaken their agreement to permanently leave his past in the past. While things are bumpy between Dylan and Lizzie at the outset, they soon learn that together, they make one heck of a team.

A gruesome discovery in a city pond leads Dylan and Lizzie to investigate a young man’s murder, while Andy rescues one of Dylan’s students from a legal bind.

One of the best shows on tv. Why are all of the good shows cancelled? There are only about 15 shows, on tv, that are worth watching and this was one of them. Bring it back PLEASE
Very sorry it was canceled. My husband and I really enjoyed it….maybe moving to a different night would have helped.

Very disappointed that INSTINCT was cancelled. There’s too much garbage on TV. This was a show with some style and character. Please reconsider your decision.
Bring it back. Why is it that when there is a great show you cancel it? Instinct made sense and the intrigues were captivating. The cast was great. Revive this show, please
I’m so disappointed Instinct wasn’t renewed. It’s a great police drama with a welcomed quirk factor. And Alan Cummings is always a pleasure to watch in anything. It was a mistake to cancel this gratifying respite from all the cheap reality shows which have no toehold in reality. I’m sorry I wasn’t aware of this earlier to try to prevent the cancellation but hope there can be a reversal. This show will be missed.
They shouldn’t have cancelled this. Instinct did a great job in filling the hole left by Castle. Where am I now going to get my fix of hot female detective with quirky male sidekick in a crime series that doesn’t take itself too seriously. With Lucifer moving to Netflix and having time called on it too I’m in danger of having to go cold turkey on this sub-genre.
If it’s not too late, recommission Instinct or get another channel to pick it up.
Just watched the final season , which was brilliant, was really enjoying the characters relationships developing on screen. Good modern cop show, which should have lasted for a few more seasons. CBS made a mistake here not renewing
Just watched the finale of Season Two in the UK. Sad to hear the show has been cancelled – the whole theme of gay adoption will now not be explored, and I wanted to find out what happened to Julian and whether Goodman really was a changed character – will miss all these guys.
A great change in the ‘Cops and robbers’ genre and poor decision by T.V. Company to cancel it. Perhaps they could think again.
Seriously?!? Instinct was one of the best on TV period!!! CBS is becoming a waste of time!!!
This show was really good…innovative, daring and thoroughly enjoyable. I want it back!!!!! When I look at all the really stupid sitcoms that populate the CBS lineup this year I wonder who CBS thinks their audience is!
This is one of the best crime shows on the air. His smarts and her looks was a really super cast for the show…really missing it..BRING IT BACK
I loved that show – why would they cancel it? Sometimes I think they only like stupid shows to continue.
This was one of the better shows on TV and they cancel it. What is with CBS. There are too many reality shows and reruns of old stuff. This show was entertaining and fun to watch. Get rid of the remake of Magnum and put this back on. Magnum is Tom Sellek and always will be.
