CBS hasn’t announced that Medium has been cancelled but, while attending an event last weekend, Patricia Arquette said that the show will indeed be ending this season.
Like her character, series star Arquette can indeed see the future. Now, Medium creator Glenn Gordon Caron has confirmed that the drama is finished. Of the last episode, Caron wrote, “Allison Dubois will dream her last dream on Medium Friday, January 21st. In what we believe will be a series defining episode, Allison and her family will stare destiny in the eye. And destiny will not blink.”
The ratings for Medium have taken a real hit this season. Despite frequently winning its timeslot, the drama has averaged a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.41 million viewers. CBS reduced the number of episodes to just 13 as a result.
What do you think? How would you like to see Medium end? Should some of the characters die or should Allison lose her abilities? How about Joe and Allison finally getting a good night’s sleep?

I LOVE THE SHOW JUST GOT MY HUSBAND INTO IT. I THINK WITH OUT IT ,GHOST WHISPER, AND COLD CASE CBS NIGHT TV BUT FOR EXSTREME HOUSE MAKE OVER WILL STINK!
can’t believe the show ended am here crying like a baby
I totally agree — and cannot believe it was cancelled!!!!!!!!!!!
I was really dispointed of this ending, Really Joe had to die? WHY? I was glad to see they reunited in the end, but still… I agree another network should pick this show up and make that last show a very bad dream…
I did not liked it al all!!! Pleae birng them back!! Obvioulsy with Joe alive
Don’t you see it?? This could be greater than Law&Order it was just the day! I wasnt’ able to see it so I used to record it and watch it Monday afternoon or Sunady if I had the time.
Please let us enjoy them a little more, make this all be just a dream and bring joe back to Allison’s life and the show Medium back to our lifes.
Unhappy to see Medium end. I hope the series can be aired again. I will watch re-runs.
wow….such a shame..great show…only to be replaced by another crappy reality show! nice going..
Who did the charcterplay in medium
I’m so glad I recorded the last episode even though I was watching it live, because I was in shock. I had heard nothing about a cancellation. I told someone on the phone that Friday night that I think my favorite show may have just had its series finale, but still wasn’t sure. I watched the recorded show again, and then went to the internet and learned that it was indeed the end. Oh man, I will miss it. It would be great if another network would pick it up like VA said.
I DVR’d the finale, just watched it. Too sad, really bad ending to a great show. I loved this show and really hate to see it go! I too thought there would be more story lines for the girls….this could be a dream within a dream….it could be revived….I could only hope!
Geez Louise! We’ve watched “Medium” since its very first airing on the network that yanked “Raines” all over the place in its brief life until that show was canceled. We were glad CBS put “Medium” on their lineup when the show was stupidly canceled on the other network. Very happy in fact. Now this!! I am so surprised a thriving show would be canceled this way. USA should have picked up “Medium” for their lineup! Its not too late! They can say the whole crummy “finale” was a long, lousy dream.
Once again, the networks screw us. Is there anything good that can be left untouched by you. If you think that any show you put on to replace” Medium” will ever be watched by me…dream on. A series that could have gone as long as Law & Order, just up and out of nowhere, ends on a January night as we look and drop our jaws. Thanks for nothing….wonderful brainiac idiots!
I agree. What a shocker. I definitely did NOT like the ending. It was not well thought out, IMO. This show still had possibilities – the fact that each of the daughters had the gift as well as Allison – offers an endless supply of stories. Too bad, this show could have continued to offer hope to many viewers. Worldwide situations could have been incorporated into future stories, with the daughters being more involved and lending their gifts to offer solutions, etc. I wish they hadn’t killed Joe. I was bummed.
also, really bad ending to a great show
glad they got to do a finale, but there were a lot more stories to tell…i thought they were setting it up so that the daughters would get more storylines…they let all of the law & order shows go on forrreeevver(which i stopped watching like 3 years ago), but not medium…whatever
It may be sad that the series ended, but at least they were able to make a finale and close the series. That, no matter how unsatisfying to some, is infinitely better than many series get, when after a break of a week or two they simply never air again. All the plotlines left open and unresolved, and no closure at all. While I too will miss the show, at least we got what we got. Most shows don’t get to end, they are just over.
