What’s This TV Show About?
A family sitcom airing on the ABC television network, The Middle stars Patricia Heaton, Neil Flynn, Charlie McDermott, Eden Sher, and Atticus Shaffer. The comedy centers on the Heck family. Frankie (Heaton) and Mike (Flynn) are middle-aged, middle-class parents. They live in the middle of the country with their three children, easy-going Axl (McDermott), a recent college graduate; enthusiastic middle child Sue (Sher), a college junior; and bright, quirky Brick (Shaffer), who is now a high school sophomore.
The ninth and final season of The Middle kicks off as Axl returns home from his post-grad trip to Europe. His even more laid-back attitude drives Mike crazy. Axl has also gotten serious enough with Sue’s roommate, Lexie (Daniela Bobadilla), that it’s time for Mike and Frankie to meet her wealthy family. Speaking of Sue, she is still pining for Sean Donahue (Beau Wirick), who thanks to their penchant for crossing wires, has no idea she returns his feelings. Meanwhile, in an attempt to boost his popularity, Brick decides to dump Cindy (Casey Burke), which goes about as well as any Heck should expect.
Season Nine Ratings
The ninth season of The Middle averaged a 1.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.00 million viewers. Compared to season eight, that’s down by 3% in the demo and down by 1% in viewership. Find out how The Middle stacks up against other ABC TV shows.

Fans can sit back and relax without worrying whether ABC will cancel or renew The Middle for season 10. We’ve known since August 2017 that the ninth season would be the final installment, but the good news is this was a creative decision. We’re happy to say the writing staff is planning on crafting a satisfying TV series finale for the long-running family series. Who knows? After that, they may even consider spin-offs, so subscribe for free updates on The Middle.

I miss “The Middle” and all of the outstanding characters!! Just ordered the entire 9 series to watch again:) PLEASE, PLEASE bring the crew back for more seasons!!! The acting is incredible, not to mention the best TV Sitcom writers. It is so sad to see the Heck’s leaving so soon…… What the “Heck”, consider bringing them back:)

I most definitely would watch another season of this show. To me it is the best show on tv. I watch the reruns all the time also. They have a wonderful and clean realistic show and they are going to drop it when most of todays shows are fake reality shows. Who cares about mama June or the fixer uppers. Television is to escape and have fun and that is what the Hecks bring.
I really love this show. We watch as a family and relate to each character.

Season 10 please!
I am really saddened about this show going off it was one show that had it all the characters were suited with the actors playing them sue. Sue is really the one I got a kick out of but all of them are unforgettable hope to see them in another type of show. Good clean fun. But of course the networks will run crappy shows forever
No. I don’t think it should end w/Season 9 because this show, the actors are terrific and I would like to see more of what goes on after Axle and Lexie take the next serious step and be able to follow the relationship of Sue And Shawn at a slower pace rather than “okay we put them together — the end”. Also, I’d like to see Brick experience his first year of college. I love this family and now we have reached new significant chapters in all their lives, including the parents. Since it’s already been announced that the show is ending after season 9, this seems like a strange article.
Love the show. So sad to see it leave. My favorite. I have every episode recorded.
