CBS won’t be back to The Big Easy for the 2021-22 television season. The network has decided to cancel the NCIS: New Orleans TV series and end it with the current seventh year.
NCIS: New Orleans stars Scott Bakula, Vanessa Ferlito, Necar Zadegan, Charles Michael Davis, Rob Kerkovich, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, and CCH Pounder. Set in The Big Easy, the series revolves around a local NCIS field office that investigates criminal cases involving military personnel. Special Agent Dwayne “King” Pride (Bakula) is a New Orleans native, is driven to do what’s right, and leads the office. Pride’s team, inside and out of the office, includes tough and acerbic Special Agent Tammy Gregorio (Ferlito); Forensic Agent Sebastian Lund (Kerkovich); anti-social Special Agent Quentin Carter (Davis); Jefferson Parish Coroner Doctor Loretta Wade (Pounder), Investigative Computer Specialist Patton Plame (Mitchell); and international counter-intelligence expert Special Agent Hannah Khoury (Zadegan).
Airing on Sunday nights, the seventh season of NCIS: New Orleans averages a 0.51 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.84 million viewers. Compared to season six, that’s down by 22% in the demo and down by 24% in viewership. Eight episodes have aired thus far.
Of the series coming to a close, Deadline reports that Bakula said, “Sad to end our love affair with this phenomenal city but so grateful for all the friends we made along the way… I will miss the music. Big thank you to CBS for seven years.”
“It has been our sincere pleasure and honor to work on this show and with this incredible cast and crew for over 150 episodes,” said executive producers and showrunners Jan Nash and Christopher Silber. “As disappointed as we are to see NOLA end, we couldn’t be prouder of the work we’ve done and are grateful to the spectacular and resilient Crescent City that embraced us for seven wonderful years.”
It was also announced today that CBS’ Mom sitcom is also ending this season. It’s also been reported that the network is considering a new NCIS spin-off set in Hawaii.
What do you think? Do you like the NCIS: New Orleans TV series? Are you disappointed that it’s been cancelled and wasn’t renewed for an eighth season?
I just read the reviews and was shocked to read the knocks on NCIS LA “since Hetty was gone.” Are you kidding me?? You live in a cartoon world if you believe Hetty is the rough tough little lady that she appears as on the show. Let’s get some reality!
I’m ok with it being canceled. Scott Bakula had become over dramatic and his tough guy persona was stale.
Aww so sad I love this show
I’m disappointed! I loved this show! How do they get cancled? Very very disappointed!!!!!
I love this show! They have moved it to so many different time slots. Please please don’t cancel this show!
I love NCIS New Orleans. Very sad to see it go. I think it’s in a bad time slot. I think it’s time to see NCIS go. Put New Orleans in their time slot. Please bring them back.
Love the how’ve miss it will watch reruns
If CBS would stop moving the time slot the rating wouldn’t go down. When CBS move the show to Sundays that when the rating went down. PUT THE NCIS NEW ORLEANS ON THURSDAY AT 8:00 PM AND SEE HOW THE RATING ARE!!!!! I love this show and would hate to see it go off the air. KEEP NCIS NEW ORLEANS!!!!!!!!!!!
I am very sad to see NCIS New Orleans ending. I think this is one of the most interesting and entertaining shows on TV. The characters, the City, the music, the storylines have all been consistently great! You know a show is excellent when you feel like you really know and care about the characters! I agree with Monica that the changes in time/day slot have been poor decisions….CBS should really re-think this, or another network should take it.
I’m totally disappointed that NCIS Née Orleans is cancelled. I love this show. CBS you are taking all the good shows off the air.
NCIS New Orleans is a favorite of mine and I am very angry that it is being cancelled. I will not be watching EITHER of the other two NCIS shows and will not watch a new one. New Orleans is my favorite city and the always entertaining show and the music made it a classic.
It’s a real shame to end this NCIS series – the best one after the original NCIS. How about ending NCIS Los Angeles instead – the writing and general storyline is much worse !
I agree ! Especially now that Hetty seems to be gone.
It’s a shame to end this one. I’ve not liked the LA series but watch NOLA and original always as well as on reruns. I’ll give Hawaii a chance but am sad about New Orleans. Sunday lineup is suicidal for any show but PBS. Shame.
I absolutely LOVE this show!! Why would CBS drop an amazing show like this? They add Rita n King’s wedding n King’s secret child n then cancel it? What’s wrong with you people? I thought you wanted folks people to watch your channel? Going about this all wrong.
This certainly is “all wrong”. I have watched all the NCIS shows from the beginning, but this is my favorite. Since “Hetty” has gone, I don’t watch NCIS LA, and without “Ducky” and Pauly Perrette, NCIS isn’t as interesting.
This is so upsetting ! This is one of the few shows on TV that I watch the original shows AND watch re-runs because it is so good ! I am begging you to bring this show back. Get rid of NCIS LA if you have to cancel one. Without “Hetty”, Linda Hunt, it is no longer as good as it was.
I have actually gone through all the responses to this cancellation and very few people want this show cancelled. Some of us would prefer that it go back to Tuesday night. Most people who responded are not interested in a NCIS Hawaii and many responded like I did—get rid of NCIS LA, now that Hetty is gone.
YES ! Please keep NCIS New Orleans and get rid of NCIS LA.
I love ALL the NCIS series equally. I am sooo sad that NOLA is being canceled. Please bring it back.
I hope CBS reconsider for the new season.
