Here and Now is over. Deadline reports HBO has cancelled the TV show after only one season.
From Alan Ball, the drama centers on a progressive white couple, Greg (Tim Robbins) and Audrey (Holly Hunter), and their multi-ethnic brood as well as a contemporary Muslim psychiatrist (Peter Macdissi). The cast also includes Jerrika Hinton, Daniel Zovatto, Raymond Lee, Sosie Bacon, Andy Bean, Joe Williamson, Avynn Crowder-Jones, Stephanie Arcila, and Erin Carufel.
Here and Now‘s cancellation is hardly a surprise. The HBO series suffered from low ratings during its 10-episode first season. Overall, it earned an average rating of .11 in the 18-49 demo and only 378,000 viewers.
What do you think? Have you seen Here and Now? Do you think it deserved a second chance?
Here and Now is one of the best series I have seen in a long while. Each character drew you to them in order to understand better their individual struggles, lives and personalities and how everything/everyone was intertwined. It was definitely not ‘run of the mill’, more alternative which was refreshing. I couldn’t wait to see each episode and am horrified that a second series is not happening! It’s like reading a book with a blank page where the ending should be. Please reconsider the decision not to make a second series!!
A little tweaking and a lot more advertising
Would have helped this. It is an amazing story line, one more season with a few revisions this would fly. I’ll miss it if you let this one go
I Binged watched the entire season in One weekend. Its So character driven..Amazing Cast. This Needs a Second Season for people to Discover This Drama. Its Awesome. HBO Please reconsider this and green light a Season 2.!!! Sam Katz
My daughter got me into this show and I’m hooked! I cannot believe it won’t return, there must be another Season. Please do not cancel
My husband and I loved Season 1 of Here and Now! Please give this show another chance! Please do not cancel! I’m so sad to hear that it will not return for another season.
Absoulately there should be second season.I am watching this show from Turkey. I am imperessed by the performences of actors. By the end of episode ten ı crossed my fingers and prayed “please god let them make second season”. I am shocked when ı read your article about there wont be second. Whıt this perfect senario and performersers deserve a second chance…
I thought this show was amazing with all of Alan Ball’s usual inventiveness. Early on the characters could be annoying but as it progressed you gained an understanding of what drove them. The finale was deeply affecting. I think this should have received more publicity. A seriously underrated drama.
I live this show! Please do not cancel it!!
Season 1 perhaps didn’t start off as smoothly as it could have, mainly due to too many plot-lines happening at the same time. But I really thought it got stronger by each episode, as characters were developed further. It has a lot of potential, especially with Tim Robbins and Alan Ball. I was really looking forward to season 2, shame!
i sat and watched all of season 1 and loved the show, hopefully they will at least bring in season 2 and not leave people wondering the out come from the last episode of season 1.
I loved the show even though it had to many cliffhanger, meaning nothing seemed to be completely explained. I was really looking forward to season two for answers.
I’m so sad. I loved this show. Please give it another chance!
I was hooked after the 1st episode. Please renew!
I loved the show and I want more more more, but I did get nervous often while watching over so such exaggerated bigotry feelings and over the top portrayal of everyone having sone kind of ‘political correctness ‘ trauma in their life.. enough already. Show more of the show with people comfortable in their own skin who they are and role models of them helping others ‘get it done’ instead of personal mental trauma regarding the inherited bloodlines, which all run together as Americans.. and saved from devastation .
Another leftist show bites the dust. Here’s an idea HBO if you want to make a series that’s political how about portraying the other side fair? Every single right of center issue or person was portrayed as a buffoon or a bigot. You can’t have a show that stays on for ample seasons if you spit on more than half the country. This show represented what’s wrong with America today. It portrayed the other side as racists and idiots and put every single person into a group. Our country became a great country because of our UNITY. No matter where… Read more »
this country is not great. lol
