On Person of Interest, Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson work to track down potential criminals and victims. It’s too bad that they couldn’t track down a few more viewers for the first episode.
Per the fast affiliate numbers, Person of Interest registered a 3.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 13.22 million viewers. It was in fourth place for the timeslot, and only beat The CW’s Secret Circle.
Compared to last year’s CSI season premiere in the same timeslot, Person of Interest underperformed in the demo by 9% (3.4) and in total viewers by 10% (14.69 million).
While this wasn’t a bad premiere, especially considering the stiff competition, CBS execs were no doubt disappointed that Person of Interest didn’t perform better right out of the gate. We’ll have a better idea of the show’s future in the coming weeks as we see what percentage of viewers return episode after episode.
NOTE: Updated ratings for the 2011-12 season are now available.
What do you think? Did you watch Person of Interest last night? Will you be back? What’s your gut instinct? Should the series continue or should it be cancelled instead?

PS: CBS should advertise it more.
Always thought Caviezel was a gifted actor, but didn’t know it was on Thursday. I will watch from now on.
My entire group of friends absolutely love this show! Caviezel and Emerson had chemistry and this show’s premise is unique, engaging and exactly what prime time needs in a new tv drama series. CBS needs to allow “Person of Interest” to grow it’s audience as they will surely remain loyal and tune in week after week. Job well done J.J.Abrams, Jonathan Nolan and their whole crew!
I agree with those who loved it and I find the two leads to be VERY appealing… But CBS in fourth place? That can’t be good. Which is a shame because I’m rather certain this is the best new show of the season so far (a few of the midseason contenders could be better, Pan Am could be good, and we’ll have to see if Ringer improves). I hope this isn’t another Rubicon situation, where a show is too intellectual for the lowest common denominator of the American audience.
13 million viewers with X Factor, The Office, and Grey’s Anatomy as competition. That sounds like a pretty good showing for Person of Interest. Especially, since X Factor and The Office had much bigger promotional efforts.
Good show, hope it stays, but not very optimistic.
What is there not to like about this show. Great acting…very handsome leading man. Had use hooked from the get go. We have watched a lot of premier shows and this is without a doubt the best one we have seen so far. We will be turning in every week.
It’s a diamond in the rough. They should keep it.
My family and i love it ! Jim Caviezel excellent actor great job Michael Emerson you and Jim Caviezel make good partners good chemistry. We will be back every week to

BEST OF LUCK TO ALL !
p.s. To the peron who didnt like the show you either didnt understand it or you didnt watch the the whole fuull hour of the show.
I LOVED the premiere!! Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson are outstanding in this show. It should definitely be given time to build an audience.
Horrible! I found it completely unwatchable. The two leads are the most unappealing I’ve seen in years.
Hahahahaha!!!!…you were joking….right???
I thought it was outstanding. They need to keep this show.
I loved it! Perfect cast – Michael Emerson is so charasmatic and enigmatic, while also being so believable, that he really is a genius as an actor! And James Caviezel is perfect in his part! The storyline is unique in the way that it actually acknowledges that September 11 was real and changed life for Americans! The writing is very well done and realistic! I think people should watch – this will be another J.J. Abrahms success, like “Lost” and “Alias”, if given the chance!
I thought it was a great episode, and the series itself shows promise. I hope it keeps it up and that CBS gives it time to build an audience.
Loved it!
