Annie Bello won’t get to fight for new causes in the 2021-22 television season. ABC has cancelled the Rebel TV series so there won’t be a second year.
A drama, the Rebel TV show is inspired by the life of activist Erin Brockovich today and stars Katey Sagal, John Corbett, James Lesure, Lex Scott Davis, Tamala Jones, Ariela Barer, Kevin Zegers, Sam Palladio, and Andy Garcia. Annie “Rebel” Bello (Sagal) is a blue-collar legal advocate without a law degree. She’s a funny, messy, brilliant, and fearless woman who cares desperately about the causes she fights for and the people she loves. When Rebel applies herself to a fight she believes in, she will win at almost any cost.
Airing on Thursday nights, the first season of Rebel averages a 0.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.23 million viewers in the live+same day ratings.
The cancellation doesn’t come as much of a surprise. The series follows Grey’s Anatomy on the schedule but performs poorly in the ratings and loses a lot of its lead-in audience. It’s one of the lowest-rated freshman series on the network this season.

Loved this show and was very disappointed that it ended with season one. The story line and acting was top notch…..please bring another season.

Really ABC??? Put it back on – so over this reality bull- Rebel ROCKED!!
So very, very disappointed that Rebel is cancelled. Really, after only 10 episodes!! It wasn’t even given a damn chance. If there weren’t enough viewers in that time slot, move it to another one. Maybe even a new network, its been done before. BRING BACK REBEL!! Based on true events, great actors, great story line. Every episode was full of so much, it kept me intrigued on what was going to happen next, along with so many emotions while watching it. Such a damn shame We will forever be fans.
Loved the quirky cast; Katy Sagal was fantastic as were the rest of the ensemble cast.Even though it dealt with serious issues, it was entertaining and the writing and interaction among the cast was superb. I’ve been really disappointed in network television’s decision to cancel some of the really different, interesting conceptual shows before giving them a chance to develop an audience. Also some of the shows weren’t even promoted and were seemingly cancelled after only 2-3 episodes were aired, yet some of the shows still on, especially the comedies are totally inane!!!
Really enjoyed this fast paced, well written, funny, show. The characters were great and well developed. Both the main and secondary characters. Very sad that ABC didn’t see how well done this show was. Please reconsider!
I loved the show (Rebel), & very disappointed to hear it’s cancelled.
It seems like any show that has a lead character (woman ) in a political or investigative role…gets canceled. There also seems to be, just a thought, that studios don’t want to aggravate medical device companies, pharma, or good old boy politics. Rebel was a great show with a great cast.
I cannot believe Rebel was canceled. Fabulous show, great actors and actresses…Shame on you ABC. What do need? Sex and violence to sell a show? Sad…
