Resident Alien fans will see fewer episodes of season three than anticipated. Deadline reports that Syfy has cut the number of episodes for season three by a third, from 12 to eight installments. The second season of 16 episodes concluded in September.
Starring Alan Tudyk, Sara Tomko, Corey Reynolds, Elizabeth Bowen, Alice Wetterlund, Levi Fiehler, and Judah Prehn, the Syfy series follows an alien (Tudyk) who crashes on Earth with a mission to kill all humans, but things change as he spends time on the planet.
The comedy series was renewed for a third season of 12 episodes in July, ahead of the premiere of the second half of season two in August. The ratings dropped from the first half of the season, which is a possible reason for fewer episodes being produced.
A premiere date for season three of Resident Alien will be announced later.
What do you think? Are you a fan of this Syfy series? Are you disappointed that fewer episodes are being produced?
I frickin’ LOVE Resident Alien!!! I am VERY DISAPPOINTED to read that the number of episodes for season 3 has been reduced! I watch this on Peacock, not Syfy. Plenty of fans watch it on Peacock, so counting only those who view Resident Alien on Syfy will render a very skewed count! Let’s face it: commercial TV is not nearly as popular as it used to be, and Peacock is a great streaming service that lots of viewers use. So keep Resident Alien on some channel out there, please!
My Wife and I really enjoy watching this show, I understand that if you put to many episodes on like Syfy did with last season and then split the season up the ratings could be different for each segment just like it was., so I think maybe 10 or 12 episodes for a full season would be good for the show and Syfy!! just my thoughts!!! really want resident Alien to stay on though!!
This is the one show I look forward to. Why are you cutting the number of episodes? It’s a funny and we enjoy watching it. ;(
Really enjoy this series and sorry to hear about the episodes being cut down.
C’mon Syfy- you always ruin a good thing. I’m still disappointed in the way you threw away Winona Earp. Let’s do better for Resident Alien!
What’s wrong with you people….this show is funny and great I love this show and look forward to it coming on….you want to cut episodes and then probably cancel it…all we have anymore is reality shows or talk shows . Your wrong for doing this…for once let the viewers decide.
The best show on TV! The humor is awesome and a great cast. Come on, SYFY, don’t be like the other channels and oddly decide to cancel a series after 3 seasons.
This is an awesome show. Takes you away from the real world we are dealing with. My husband and I would watch if they’re were 20 episodes. Don’t split the episodes.
season 2 was a bit disappointing compared to one, & that’ll result in some drop-off from those not keenly fans. I say make MORE episodes, not less. & give the writers the same freedom as theryu hads for season one. . .
This is how you know the show will be cancelled.
The first season got many things odd , the kid never appears it’s like a secondary actor. I think the writers got out of ideas and they don’t know what to do now.
Didn’t we see an armadillo-like thing go skittering pat the top of the stairs?
I love this series. It’s so funny. Don’t cut the series short.
sadly this probably means the end of the show, “scyfy” has a habit of ruining good things, in favor of garbage like “reality/competition” crap
yup, reality shows are cheap — no need to pay writers, nor pay actors full price. . . Cheaply made, cheaply produced, cheaply written, cheaply presented. Focus on the brest possible production & you’ll have the best possible audience size & ratings. This show is great – it had the potential to eclipse “V” in popular interest, conversation, & with stations fighting to run a later date copy. . .
Syfy always does this.
Great show something different gotta love the actors and humor please keep it going
I’ll take whatever they give us! Just keep it going! It’s good!
One of the best shows on tv, cancelling it would be a crime!
