The venerable sitcom has been cancelled after seven seasons on the air. No season eight for Rules of Engagement.
The cancellation doesn’t come as a surprise. The ratings have been down this year and a couple of the actors had been cast in other projects. If CBS and the studio wanted to bring it back for year eight, they’d have to renegotiate contracts which wouldn’t have been cheap.
The series finale, which will also be the 100th episode, airs on Monday, May 20th.

You all know it’s not about what we love it’s all about the almighty $$$. There are few really GREAT sitcoms on TV these days and this is right up there with the best of the best. Jeff,Audry,Adam, Jen, tamir and the amazing, hilarious Russell were the funniest characters in sitcom history. Get off your butts get these characters back even if you have to change the name to bring in a new sitcom with their lives already getting into how there lives have changed since the children being involved. It would be truly funny. LOL
That’s always the issue. The almighty dollar ruins greatness.

Got into this series years after it was cancelled, but only because reruns were playing right before Married With Children when I was up making the family’s lunches. Took me awhile to warm up to the couples. It was the way Russell & Timmy played off eachother that had me hooked. I would have loved to see an 8th season with them still married.
So sad to hear this, great show, Jeff is fantastic, it all works so well, would have been great to see the babies and Jeff being dad, so sad!
Tomorrow will be two years since the finale. Since that time primetime television has been full of shows that aren’t even in the same ballpark as Rules of Engagement. I beg of you. Pay the actors what you must and bring this classic back.
Please bring back Rules of Engagement. Unreal that there are some other comedies still on TV and this one is not…Not right!!

my wife and i loved this show. same as just shoot me they get great characters and and a great story line and they kill it.
every time we like a show it goes south.

They brought the show to a place where a lew of new and exciting episodes could happen. The plot has always been solid and it would be fresh with a new marriage and a new baby girl! After waiting so long of course ratings would go through the roof if the audience was given a chance to see Jeff and Audrey be parents. If brought back for at least a season 8, I believe it would be really successful again
The show was brought to a place where a lew of new and entertaining episodes could be made and God knows the thought of Jeff being a new dad to a little girl is heart warming. I think the ratings would definitely be better if the show was brought back for at least one more season.

The cancellation of “RULES OF ENGAGEMENT” came at a horrible time. My husband and I loved the show. Critics, for the most part are horrible at reviews! They ended the show at one of the most exciting events. Jeff and Audrey were finially going to have their baby, Timmy finally quit his job fed up with Russell, and Jen and Adams postponed wedding. They could have had a great season 8 and ended it on a better note if thats what had to be done. GREAT SHOW with the worst ending ever!!
