There’s been no shortage of TV shows about doctors who have lots of problems. Some are ratings hits while others are cancelled after only one season. How’s Rush on USA Network been doing? Will it get a second season?
Rush revolves around a talented and handsome physician (Tom Ellis) who had it all — but then lost it in one fateful night. Six years later, he’s a private doctor who treats less-than-squeaky-clean clientele in Los Angeles. The rest of the cast includes Harry Hamlin, Larenz Tate, Odette Annable, and Sarah Habel.
Launching in mid-July, the first episode of Rush attracted 1.7 million viewers with a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic. It wasn’t an impressive start for a scripted show on USA.
For the episodes that followed, the numbers have bounced all around — up and down like a ping-pong ball. Last week’s installment hit series highs while the previous week hit new series lows. It’s difficult to explain but, when the ratings get this low, it doesn’t take many Nielsen viewers to watch or not watch a show to cause a dramatic shift in the ratings. Still, it is unusual.
Like Satisfaction, Rush has very poor ratings — even when compared to the rest of USA’s ailing scripted series. It seems very likely that USA will cancel Rush but, given the cable channel’s current situation, it could easily go either way.
But, what do you think? Do you like the RushTV show on USA? If you ran the network, would you cancel or renew it for a second season?
10/2 update: USA has cancelled Rush after one season of 10 episodes.

Bring back Rush, know many who wants it back.
Please bring back Rush. It is a wonderful show. The characters are awesome, every last one of them.
What’s wrong with you?! Rush is a great show. Give it time and promote it. I love this show. One of the best you ever had on.
I cannot believe you cancelled RUSH. are you kidding me it was one of the most entertaining series USA has produced. It closely resembled how some healthcare providers handle the stress of working long hours by turning t drug and alcohol, which the average person would not realize. The storylines kept me coming back making sure I didn’t miss a single episode, the underlying storie of Rush, how he lost his privileges, his relationships, etc was enough to keep me watching and the new and interesting situations Rush and the people he treated got into added to the interest. I loved Rush. Great acting, fun fun
OMG… I can’t believe you would cancel this show! Rush is by far one of the best medical shows that was on. Not only were the actors and actresses very believable, but it proves that not all doctors are flawless saints. Please bring back rush for many seasons to come!!!
PLEASE BRING RUSH BACK. VERY GOOD PROGRAM
Please bring rush back . It ios super good.
Very disappointed that they cancelled Rush, I really enjoyed it . It was different!
I love Rush. I would renew it without any hesitation. It has good stories and very eye opening about substance abuse and the medical industry. I love that it shows doctors who are brilliant at what they do, but are flawed. I like the closeness that all the characters have. USA please bring this show back. The substance abuse topic portrayed on this show is a eye opener because it impacts people from every walk of life. Not everyone is going to be involved in a open marriage; but everyone will have to go to the doctor and those patients… Read more »
