During its first summer on CBS, the Salvation TV show ran in the middle of the pack in the Nielsen ratings race. Now it’s back for a second season. How will it fare, this time? Will Salvation be cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned.
A CBS suspense drama, Salvation, stars Santiago Cabrera, Jennifer Finnigan, Charlie Rowe, Jacqueline Byers, Melia Kreiling, Ashley Thomas, and Ian Anthony Dale. The thriller follows MIT graduate student Liam Cole (Rowe) and tech genius Darius Tanz (Cabrera), who discover that in six months, a huge asteroid will crash into the Earth. In season two, the truth is out. Now that it is no longer a secret, the impending threat will elicit both the best and worst from humanity. **Status update below.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
9/18 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The first season of Salvation on CBS averaged a 0.52 rating in the 18-49 year old demographic and 3.526 million total viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Salvation TV series? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for a third season on CBS?
**Status update 11/20/2018: Salvation has been cancelled by CBS. Details here.
It seems that each episode Liam is either for or against Tanz/ReSyst. Each character is in love with someone for a few episodes and then is deeply in love with someone else. Only watching it because there isn’t much on this month. We can only get through the badly written and badly acted sub-plots by fast forwarding. The writers took an interesting story and just ruined it by turning it into a poorly written soap opera. My apologies to all soap operas, which are superior to this show.
Salvation is gone downhill in season two We have been trying to watch it but it seems to lead us down each and every episode it just gets more ridiculous and has fallen short of the original premise of the show as far as I’m concerned if it was cancelled I wouldn’t miss it I watch tonight’s episode and it was so depressing we both found ourselves reading Facebook well the show was on
I started out liking the show, but it has gone to “Lost” land. Party game: How many subplots are there? 10, 15, 20? Who can keep track? Who wants to keep track? Cancel it, or just have the asteroid wipe out all life on Earth. I’m for it.
This show, is terrible. I love Ian Anthony Dale and Sasha Roiz as well as most of the cast, but it’s the same garbage each week. Please cancel it
Love to Sasha too.
Not a good show. I’m watching because there’s nothing else o. TV for the summer.. cancel it!
I agree we need more about the asteroid but I have been watching and have enjoyed the characters. Renew
Season 2 is bad get back to the asteroid issue or cancel this show
I love this show! So addicting. It has good character development with an interesting plot. I hope they renew for season 3 (or at least don’t end on a cliffhanger).
Cancel! It’s already gone from my viewing. The political crap is so bad I started rooting for the asteroid to hurry up, hit the planet, humans extinct, maybe the insects and/or plants can do better on the next evolutionary go round.
We’ll with this rating we are headed right for cancellation…
I’m just hoping they don’t finish on a cliff hanger
Please cancel this.
If the ratings continue as poorly as they are (0.4) or less, there won’t be a prayers chance for a season 3. This show barely beat a CW show and lost to two repeats in the same time slot. It doesn’t help that the writers seem to be throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks.
Season 2 episode 1 has the unenviable task of introducing the real threat to earth in the form of Re- Sist. Sorry, sorry my iPad refuses to allow me to spell the word has to use it it keeps auto correcting…. Their actions are going to have very profound effects in this season. I know some feel that the first episode was fractured, but it’s laying the ground work for the coming season…there’s a LOT happening. A lot… I hope it’s given a chance as there’s a lot of room for good story telling, and after all, isn’t that THE… Read more »
Season 2, episode 1 really lost its focus and was quite painful to watch. More so than season 1. There was little to do with stopping the rogue asteroid but now instead government conspiracies etc. What was intriguing was how clean the people in the silo were and how well kept their clothes were after five days . And Tanz talking down a potential shooter by saying how we’ll use technology to save the world was quite unrealistic. There’d be widespread looting and nothing as calm as a lone gunman in that scene. Tanz’ outcome would not have been good.… Read more »
Salvation should most definitely be renewed for season 3. As I watched the first show of the 2nd season I enjoyed it very much and can hardly wait for the next week.
