Scott & Bailey TV show stars Suranne Jones and Lesley Sharp will stick together until the end. Jones told Radio Times the two plan to watch the Scott & Bailey TV series finale, over a cuppa, at Sharp’s home. While not technically cancelled, the series is ending after its current fifth season.
Scott & Bailey‘s series finale airs on ITV1, Wednesday April 27th, at 9:00pm in UK. Created by Sally Wainwright and Diane Taylor, the cast of Scott & Bailey also includes David Prosho, Tony Mooney, and Delroy Brown. Jones is credited as writing more than 20 episodes of the UK crime drama.

…Jones – who originally came up with the concept for the series with her old pal Sally Lindsay – says she knew it was time to move on from the hit series.
“We knew we were saying goodbye, so now that it’s out there, well, it’s good I think. It’s good to move on,” she told RadioTimes.com at the 2016 Bafta TV nominees party.
“We said we weren’t going to do another one last series, and then when ITV said, ‘Would you like to do another one?’, we kind of thought [why not], because there’s been quite a break between the last one and this one. I was pregnant so I knew that I couldn’t do more than three episodes,” she continued.
“And then I said, ‘Oh I’d quite like to produce as well,’ so they said yes come along and do that. So the whole thing was a goodbye in a sense: we were going to do a short thing, I was going to produce, and be properly on the team, because I’ve always put my nose in.”

Series synopsis
A three-part special of Scott & Bailey, featuring a single crime, comes to ITV in April.
Produced by award winning independent producers Red Production Company, the three-part format allows this series to unfold with scale and ambition as Scott & Bailey tackle one of the biggest and darkest cases they have ever had to face.
Suranne Jones and Lesley Sharp return to the roles of super cool Janet Scott and her hotheaded partner Rachel Bailey; the crime-fighting partnership forged over four previous series following the drama’s successful critical and ratings launch on ITV in 2011.
With D.C.I. Gill Murray in retirement, ever-ambitious Rachel (Suranne Jones) returns from her Vice secondment fired up and full of new ideas and initiatives. She’s gained valuable experience and really wants to make her mark as she returns to Syndicate 9’s Murder Squad.
Exhilarated to step up to the plate, Rachel is exactly who Janet (Lesley Sharp) and the Squad need to move forward with a terrifying and sinister Internet crime investigation of epic scale and unrelenting horror.
Using her Vice authorisation, Rachel accesses a disturbing world where people brag about committing murder and lay down the gauntlet for the next victim. A game of ruthless life or death daring develops, as Scott & Bailey investigate multiple killers with horrifying and everlasting consequences. They will be changed forever and the investigation will take a devastating toll on their professional lives.
The special has been executive produced by Nicola Shindler (Happy Valley, Ordinary Lies, Last Tango in Halifax) founder of the Red Production Company and Suranne Jones, who conceived the idea for the drama with fellow actress Sally Lindsay who returns to the drama playing Rachel’s sister Alison.
Episode 3
Rachel (Suranne Jones) is criticised for the lack of progress in the investigation and with Steve Dench (Richard Riddell) still the prime suspect, she knows she must find both a murder weapon and the encryption code used to access the Taking Out The Trash website. Then, they not only get Steve for multiple murders, but they also find the man he’s playing his sick game with. Discovering that the witness at Michael Edgerton’s murder may be one of the killers marks a big breakthrough, and with the attacks increasing, Rachel hopes that the killers will start to make mistakes.
The appearance of a star on Rachel’s gatepost terrifies Alison (Sally Lindsay) and when Julie Dodson (Pippa Haywood) finds out, Rachel’s position as Acting DI is jeopardized. But with new evidence challenging Steve’s alibi and a positive ID of the witness, Rachel is determined to hang onto the case. When Janet’s (Lesley Sharp) attempt to help Taisie (Harriet Waters) results in a complaint, her faith in doing everything by the book is rocked, and with Rachel’s pregnancy out in the open, both Scott and Bailey have life-changing decisions to make about their futures.
Jones also stars in the title role of the Doctor Foster TV series, which recently premiered in the US on Lifetime as Doctor Foster: A Woman Scorned. Learn more.

Please do a season 6 and more
One of the most interesting and technically proficient police series we’ve seen. The story kept drawing us in. But most important the actors made it very real . . throughout the entire series.
Will miss it if it goes. Enjoyed watching it. Going to buy them all on dvd
Love watching Scott & Bailey. Would love to see it continue. Binged watch on Amazon Prime
I’m in the U.S., discovered this show on Amazon Prime Video and have been binge-watching it. Just now sat down to continue watching to finish Season 5 Episode 3 and thought something was wrong with my device or app when it didn’t go to Episode 4. I researched and was very disappointed to find that it was the last episode. I love the show, love the characters (though I disliked Rachel, as we’re supposed to), and looked forward to every new episode. Police drama is my favorite genre, and this is one of the best.
My wife and I have just finished season 5 of S&B here in the U.S. on Amazon Prime, and absolutely loved it. A perfectly crafted blend of police procedural and soap opera, what made it great was how flawed, messy and neurotic so many of the characters were. And this was our introduction to Suranne Jones and Amelia Bullmore, who were brilliant.
I really loved this series – everything about it. The acting is superb! Very entertaining, too. I live in Sweden, now, and was thrilled that it was televised here! One of my all time favourite detective series. GREAT cast. Think, though, that it’s the right time to stop even though I’ll miss it.
My husband enjoyed it, too! Thanks for a happy Friday night’s viewing!
Here I was waiting and hoping for the next series…I luved this show, excellent acting to the point where you actually think this copper show is their real job… they all really play well together…Well done all of you, thoroughly enjoyed the whole series, every minute… I don’t suppose there is a chance of, oh well bummer…
As the only ‘male’ so far on the comments, I’d thought I’d chip in my tuppence’s worth. I first came across the programme on a ‘repeated’ few episodes (on ITV3?) and was impressed, although Suranne Jones rarely gets involved with naff programmes. Very shortly after, I sat down to watch the complete five ‘seasons’ on DVD back to back bought on the basis of these few episode (season 3, I think). I was not disappointed and the show richly deserved its ‘high’ ratings. Like another Wainwright creation, ‘Happy Valley’, it manages to blend real-life drama into a ‘cop show’ format… Read more »
I just found Scott & Bailey on Hulu in the US. A huge nod to Suranne’s incredible talent as an actor and a writer — she held me between finding her a thoroughly disgusting character and the binge TV watching with anticipation to see her next equally dichotomy of a being a brilliant DI. Her facial expressions alone deserve an Emmy. She was impossible not to watch. And Lesley — she’s just plain wonderful to watch her spin her controlled character as a career DI and a woman with whom I could relate. Loved the show!
Best crime series I have ever seen! I’m in the USA and watch it on HULU….don’t know what ill do now without my all time fave show! Best acting ever….they are all 100% top notch actors. I wish them all the best, but damn will I miss your faces……………..
Happened upon this show on Hulu. Loved it. Well written, well acted…good television.
It was an impressive show. Well written and well acted and directed. It would be marvellous if it could be brought back
Absolutely fantastic… More Scott & Bailey!! Wednesdays won’t be the same! massive well done for educating people about the internet & mobile phones.
Oh No…… One of my favourite shows and one of the best shows on TV just now! Pleeeeeze Suranne, Leslie, Amelia, Sally et all, reconsider and keep it going – and bring Gill back out of retirement (she would hate being retired & would be driving herself absolutely loopy with boredom by now!).
