Sesame Street is heading to HBO in January, and fans of the series are getting a look at the new sets for the series.
Yes, HBO is changing the look for the long-running series. Big Bird will have a new home. Oscar’s trash can is getting moved, and fans will surely see more changes when the series premieres on HBO. The new sets were shown off on Twitter earlier this week.

Sesame Street will air on the cable network at 9am, and it will change from its hour-long format to a 30-minute show, according to Engadget.
PBS will still air episodes of Sesame Street, but the HBO episodes will air nine months later on PBS.
Will you move with Sesame Street and continue to watch when it premieres on HBO on January 16? Tell us what you think.
First of all it is $20.00 a month. My son and daughter-in-law do not smoke or drink. My grandkids are kept busy with gymnastics which costs and are in private preschool. $20 a much is too much for one show. They do not have nor do they want premium channels. And besides, not everyone has an extra $20 a month. You are quite judgmental Big Bird and sound spoiled. Go outside for a few hours when both parent work full time and take the kids to extracurricular activities? It’s Grandmom who will miss the new Sesame Street. I will not… Read more »
This, to me, is -um- counterintuitive. Sesame Street began on PBS; it’s tremendously important building block and connector for millions of small children, many many of whom do not have access to HBO. What, exactly, is the point? Another step toward homogenization and restricted access to programs and information which only creates deeper divisions. Hey, it just takes small steps to travel miles …keep your eyes open. I’ll continue to tune in to PBS, hobbled as it has become [see above].
Don’t just tune in, donate, or PBS will lose more shows. Be thankful to HBO for saving it.
HBO. Hasn’t seen Sesame Street it destroyed it! Oh my god there’s more Elmo episode that anything else in this crappy show. It’s so sad to see what’s happening Sesame Street HBO continues to hear the show is going to die thank you modern television for destroying Sesame Street and HBO t it’s so sad to see what’s happening Sesame Street HBO continues to air the show is going to die thank you modern television for destroying Sesame Street and HBO you have destroyed a legacy!
Boo. Many families cannot afford HBO. The best for the elitist as always.
It will still be on pbs. Just have to wait 9’months
Can’t afford it? It’s ten bucks a month. Tell Mom to give up a couple packs of cigarettes for the kids sake. Go outside a few hours and pick up some cans. Ask the boss for an hour of overtime. It’s not that much money.
