*5/4/21 update: The Good Doctor has been renewed for a fifth season on ABC.
Shore’s decision o kill Melendez is absolutely stupid. What is the point of this “we want to make viewers feel sad”? He thinks ppl will remember the movie if smth dramatic happens? It is the contrary. They will reject it and forget it. I despise this uncalled for, dramatic decisions. Life is dramatic, we watch movies to forget about how dramatic life is, we don’t need movies to depress us even more. Result of Melendez dying? I am not watching season 4 and I do not recommend this show to anyone ever. Shore has much more to learn about public’s… Read more »
Premise: I’ve watched all seasons of The Good Doctor in a row for the past 4 weeks (just discovered this series). After the first three excellent seasons (not perfect, but still very interesting) I’m nearing the end of Season 4, and frankly I’m pretty baffled: how did the writers manage to spoil The Good Doctor so? The real problem in my opinion are the dialogues and the storylines: why does it seem to have become a honeyed teen drama where they only talk about sex and love? Why give so much space to the character of Lea, who in my… Read more »
100% Agree!!
Couldn’t agree more. The biggest mistake ever was to kill off a pivotal character, like Melendez. I guess half of the audience doesn’t even care about Shea, but they decided to continue with their toxic relationship, instead of continuing with Claire and Neil’s storyline. They could have killed off Lea or Glassman, converting Melendez into a new role model for Shaun.
I stopped watching after 3×20. And the most disgusting part is that Nick was fired, because viewers loved him (and Claire) more than Shaun…no wonder if he has turned into an annoying whining machine.
Damn, this is so accurate and true. And if Lea had died instead of Melendez, that actually would have accomplished way more what Shore wanted, then Melendez dying. The dramatic effect… Okay, he said he wanted to loose someone we’d feel something about and mission accomplished – i cried like a baby alright. But Lea dying would have helped the story much more. That may would have made the audience care about Shaun again. The only thing he accomplished now is pissing everyone of. Especially the Melendaire and Limledenz people. (I’m Melendaire, guilty as charged. They would have deserved all… Read more »
Got to bring back Clare got to.
Politics ruin everything and leave no time left for the story.
Look forward new season in the fall so happy got renewed another season. Enjoy it and love it. Never missed any episodes of it.
I hate to say this, but it seems like Melendez was the focal point of the show in some respects. I’m open minded and I tried to keep watching in his absence, but the characters and storylines are so much less interesting. And so I ventured into season 4 hoping he wasn’t killed off and actually pulled through somehow. Then the second mistake was the new character adds and demos. They were laughably bad. It feels like they’re floundering to find and recreate the first 2 seasons but forgot all of the key ingredients. Add to that a pregnant gf… Read more »
Melendez was pivotal and indispensable. Decent showrunners don’t kill off such characters and justify their decisions by saying that it had to be that way, bc the character was important, so his/her death would affect everyone… it’s just ********. 3×20 was a series finale for me.
Not to mention that they’re are constantly building up storylines and ruin them eventually, like Melendaire’s, which was worth expanding…
I love this show! Shaun and Lea are great together. Clair Brown is very good. The loss was Melendez. Just enough drama, mixed with a little light humor, not too much sex and not too much politics Hope it stays on the air for a long time.
when you dragged in the politics I quit watching immediately. People watch TV shows to get away from politics
Please renewed another season so good look forward every episode enjoy it and love it every week Monday night late drama.
The storylines have gone down the drain. Horrible season, horrible storylines. And too much Lea. Bring back Carly.
And Melendez…
We agree with Mark and Ann. We did not watch the May 10th 2021 episode because the show seems to be all wrapped around Lea. If she is taken out of the show we might return to watching it again, but bye-bye for now.

Enjoyed….FAVORITE SHOW…PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL!!!!! Would stay up to watch every Monday!
