The Kids Are Alright stars Michael Cudlitz, Mary McCormack, Sam Straley, Caleb Foote, Sawyer Barth, Christopher Paul Richards, Jack Gore, Andy Walken, and Santino Barnard. The 1970s-period comedy centers on the Clearys, an Irish-Catholic family living on the outskirts of Los Angeles. Since its the ’70s, Peggy (McCormack) and Mike (Cudlitz) are raising their kids with a lack of supervision which might stun today’s parents, and now their eldest son wants to quit the seminary to go “save the world.” The times they are a-changing, and the Cleary family is not immune to the turbulence around them.
Airing on Tuesday nights, the first season of The Kids Are Alright is averaging a 0.87 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.15 million viewers.
Out of the 21 scripted ABC TV shows of the 2018-19 season, The Kids Are Alright is in 11th place in the demo and 10th place in total viewership.

This is a smart, funny, heartfelt show. I love it and I’m really hoping another network is wise enough to pick it up.

I really liked the show. Since I don’t have a 9-5 job I watch it “on demand” . Do they recognize these group of viewers?
Awe. I liked that show. Made me think of my own childhood in the 70’s.
Loved this show! So cleverly written and great characters. Such a nice diversion from the reality, medical and law enforcement shows we are bombarded with. BOO ABC!
I am so disappointed in this cancellation…hope another network snatches it up IMMEDIATELY! This was the best show on tv! I couldn’t wait for the next new episode each week. SO disappointed in ABC.
Very disappointed to see that The Kids Are Alright get the axe. Easily one of the best sitcoms on TV. I hope that there are enough people expressing their disappointment and hopefully ABC will reconsider or maybe another network will pick it up. It’s very rare to see a cast completely nail their roles! Please somebody, anybody, don’t let this gem end!
My wife and I are very disappointed. We thought this was a brilliant new comedy.
My wife never laughs at shows and this one she did often. Mary McCormack’s timing and delivery where spot on. Each boys particular character and quirk was perfectly matched and contrasted.
Frank Cleary climbing the ladder ‘no hands’ (hooves only) in full goat regalia made me laugh harder than I have from a bit on a TV show in a long time.

I wish I knew what to do to keep the show on. Start a petition? It’s really tough to get in touch with ABC for comments. I’m sure they could care less about reading ours here but I’m going to try to pass this website onto them.

This was a show I loved, but I didn’t fall in “the age group”, and apparently, my opinion doesn’t matter at all.. I am “SOL” I never watch tv, but I loved this show. Back to no tv.
With so much junk on tv, I don’t watch much. But, this was one of the few shows I made time to watch. Easily one of my favorites. Bummed it won’t be on for a second season.
My husband and I love this show! the writing and cast are fantastic,the sets are so real life. We laugh out loud every week. The Mass for Shut Ins and Led Zeppelin episodes are priceless! Please reconsider, ABC, lots of us Kids Are Alright fans are upset. Thank you
We love the show; would have been nice to give it a chance. I am tired of cancellations of new shows and mid season shows without giving them a chance to take hold.
