Noah Wyle (above) is headed back to the emergency room. Max has ordered The Pitt series from John Wells Productions. and R. Scott Gemmill will serve as showrunner. Wyle, Wells, and Gemmill last worked together on the medical drama series ER, which was produced by Warner Bros. Television and aired for 15 seasons on NBC. Fifteen episodes have been ordered for The Pitt.
Max revealed, “The Pitt is a realistic examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in today’s America as seen through the lens of the frontline heroes working in a modern-day hospital in Pittsburgh.”
Executive producers Gemmill, Wyle, and Wells said the following about the series:

The myriad of challenges facing the doctors, nurses, technicians, patients, and their families who work in the trenches of modern medicine have become only more pronounced in the decade and a half since we last visited their stories. The premiere date for The Pitt will be announced later.
