ABC hasn’t had much luck launching a new reality show in quite some time so they tried something different this time — The Quest. Is it a ratings success? Will it be renewed for a second season or, will it be cancelled instead?
On The Quest, a dozen everyday people are transported to a fantasy world called Everealm where they have adventures and compete to be the last “true hero” remaining. The cast includes Peter Windhofer, Jan Hutter, Marcello de Nardo, Susanne Gschwendtner, Stephanie Buddenbrock, Florence Kasumba, Mai Duong Kieu, and Doug Tait.
The show debuted at the end of July to a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.82 million viewers. It was a very poor start — even for a summer series — and the numbers have gotten worse as the weeks have gone by.

The season currently averages a paltry 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.96 million viewers. That’s worse than Sing Your Face Off, a celebrity reality show that was burned off on Saturday nights in June.
To be fair, The Quest has had to compete with football games in some markets and has also been preempted by games on some local ABC stations. The ratings are still very, very low however and the network knew that the series would be interrupted when they scheduled it — a sign that they probably had no faith in it.
In the end, it’s highly unlikely that ABC will want to take a chance on ordering a second season of The Quest.

This show was amazing! It was different and took reality television to a whole new level. I don’t understand why the masses continue to want reality TV with people screaming and swearing at each other. While that’s entertaining, that’s all reality TV is. This show took away the backstabbing and focused on finding a Hero and changing peoples lives for the better. It was entertaining, kept me enthralled and had me smiling each and every episode. I am desperately praying for a second season. I haven’t enjoyed a show this much in a VERY long time.
To Doug ~ I think they were themselves, but when they were whisked away into a fantasy world and asked to be Paladins they tried to adopt to their new environment. They had no idea if they would ever return to their homes so they adopted their new homeland and it’s queen. It absolutely has to stay. It’s up to us to help save Everealm now. If the show is cancelled then we’ll never be able to find out who saved the Grand Vizier. I have my suspicions of who it is. Iwasn’t wrong the moment I suspected the vizier when the queen was poised. He already looked suspect but that was the seal on it for me. We enjoyed the show in our house. It was different than the average reality game show. We hope it comes back and is not cancelled. Again they always measure the viewers ages up to 49 years of age…what about over the age of 49? We don’t count? Bring it back !!!!
Meh, I feel all the good parts of the show are already done better on Face Off. Its got the same positive, professional camaraderie and selflessness that set The Quest apart from other, back-stabbier reality shows. But I never could get over the fourth wall on the show. The format denies you the ability to really build up suspension of disbelief – you’re constantly aware that these are non-actors surrounded by actors. Its elaborate dinner theater. Its improv. I love this show! It was so fun to watch, my family and I enjoyed watching it together. I’ve been dreaming of doing something like that and really wanted to see if I could be on one of the seasons.
This show was really great to watch! I hated the Survivor series because it pitted person against person…no story line what so ever!! The Quest, on the other hand, had drama, camaraderie, self sacrifice for the common goal, actual pride and loyalty for each other and one hell of a story line… Live Action Role Playing (LARP) meets Survivor… We were absolutely thrilled to see the growth of these Paladins and the actual reactions to situations that weren’t “every man for himself” but “let’s work as a team to help out this realm”!!! LOVED IT!!! Please continue in this endeavor!!
Exactly. I loved this show so much. Usually I don’t watch reality game shows. There’s too much back stabbing and division. This show was about building people up, building character, unity, forming bonds. It was such a great chance to reality game shows. But to add an actual story line to it? Genius. And to leave us with a cliff hanger at the end. Even more genius. Now there HAS to be a season 2.
Hell yeah there should be another season. if there have to be new paladins could the Queen hire Bonnie as a minstrel? plus why would they leave the show with the vizer being let out without following up.
This is why I stopped watching tv. They always cancel the shows I like so what’s the point?
I left a comment directly on the ABC website. That might as much, or more, impact on their decision.

That’s another thing that bothered me. Were they still themselves, or were they supposed to be characters? It bothered me as an American when they bowed to the Queen and called her “my Queen” and such. We show respect where it’s due but I would never bow and swear fealty to any crown.
I think they were themselves playing a role in a fantasy land. everyone else obviously was characters. As far as down to the Queen… That’s all part of the fun of really getting into mid evil times. And the whole adventure and fun of it. There were no Americans back then or president . They had Queens and emperors. I’m an American as well but I thought the whole thing was so much fun. It was a reality show set in a fantasy land. Get a life if you cannot tell the difference reality and fantasy , you need to turn your TV off and never watch anything again
It’s always this story and it’s depressing. People would rather watch drunken, back stabbing fake for the ratings brawls then something with imagination and a story line. I really was hoping it would take off. I thought it had such potential! it was a breath of fresh air I wholeheartedly agree. It brought forth my inner geek!
I loved the show and so did my adult children. My stepson wants to be on it and it seems like a show made for him. I really hope that we do get another chance to see it at least once more. I think it would catch on.
I thought it was a fresh breath of air. This show was so cool to watch. It was nice watching a reality show where they all helped each other and not argueing with one another like all other reality shows. Please bring it back. It was awesome.
The quest is the best show, it conquers Survivor, it kept me hooked thru whole season. I would set that , time as not to be bothered so I could watch with no interruptions.. Bring it back!!!!
