ABC hasn’t had much luck launching a new reality show in quite some time so they tried something different this time — The Quest. Is it a ratings success? Will it be renewed for a second season or, will it be cancelled instead?
On The Quest, a dozen everyday people are transported to a fantasy world called Everealm where they have adventures and compete to be the last “true hero” remaining. The cast includes Peter Windhofer, Jan Hutter, Marcello de Nardo, Susanne Gschwendtner, Stephanie Buddenbrock, Florence Kasumba, Mai Duong Kieu, and Doug Tait.
The show debuted at the end of July to a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.82 million viewers. It was a very poor start — even for a summer series — and the numbers have gotten worse as the weeks have gone by.

The season currently averages a paltry 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.96 million viewers. That’s worse than Sing Your Face Off, a celebrity reality show that was burned off on Saturday nights in June.
To be fair, The Quest has had to compete with football games in some markets and has also been preempted by games on some local ABC stations. The ratings are still very, very low however and the network knew that the series would be interrupted when they scheduled it — a sign that they probably had no faith in it.
In the end, it’s highly unlikely that ABC will want to take a chance on ordering a second season of The Quest.

The Quest is AMAZING! The only people who are against it, are people who haven’t taken the time to actually watch it. If they did, they would see how truly EPIC this story is, the show is completely unique, and the characters are amazing. The contestants are unlike any other contestants from other shows on TV. In most shows, the contestants are willing to do anything to win, including being rude, cruel, cheating, and stabbing their fellow contestants in the back. My wife and I (fifty-somethings) loved “The Quest”. Neither of us are fans of reality tv, but are history buffs. This show had a great mix on so many different levels that other commenters have already pointed out. It would be a shame, but not a surprise if it is cancelled. We asked each other what they might do for a second season, and would be greatly interested in how Season 1 would be followed up. Long live the Queen!
Caught the last few eppisodes, but what I’ve seen has hooked me, Please Please Please Renew it for season two and beyond!!!!!!!!!
This is the best reality show on TV. Maybe move the time BUT don’t cancel. Some of the others need to go and give us a breath of fresh air.
The Quest is a great show. The show is inspiring in that these contestants mainly chose who stayed based on character and not solely on performance. It’s a fresh take on reality tv. I mean how many times is a network going to throw together a talent show. Where’s the thought in that? Where’s the originality? It just seems lazy. With better advertising and not doubling up on episodes, a 2nd season of The Quest would definitely fare much better than the first. #TheQuest. #TheQuestArmy.
Let’s face it. TV channels are out to make money and attract sponsors. They don’t care about the quality of the series as long as it has high ratings and brings in the cash. Many first rate series have been cancelled due to mediocre ratings and many ridiculous shows go on year after year. The networks carter to the ‘mindless majority’ that would rather watch pointless programming than watch something that causes them to think and teaches them values. It’s very simple, actually, this show belongs in Syfy, it would be the star there. Would be perfect companion to all the amazing/nerd/fantasy shows there. BC just doesn’t have the demographic or the patience to invest in this.
Reminds me of the original survivor. Would welcome a seasons 2, but suspect it is too expensive per episode to justify it. Certainly a good show which surprised with depth and creativity.

The Quest is FANTASTIC! ABC needs to be fair and give it a chance. Some promotion would be nice and not during football season! Despite all the negatives you listed there is a strong fan base and we demand a second season! The Quest Army

Loved this show! Agree that it was family friendly and fun, light fare for summer. I loved how the paladins worked together instead of against eachother. ABC please renew!
The Quest is an amazing inspiring show that I wholeheartedly can say deserves a second season. With more seasons it could grow to be something reality television would never forget. By all the fates it MUST be renewed!
