ABC hasn’t had much luck launching a new reality show in quite some time so they tried something different this time — The Quest. Is it a ratings success? Will it be renewed for a second season or, will it be cancelled instead?
On The Quest, a dozen everyday people are transported to a fantasy world called Everealm where they have adventures and compete to be the last “true hero” remaining. The cast includes Peter Windhofer, Jan Hutter, Marcello de Nardo, Susanne Gschwendtner, Stephanie Buddenbrock, Florence Kasumba, Mai Duong Kieu, and Doug Tait.
The show debuted at the end of July to a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.82 million viewers. It was a very poor start — even for a summer series — and the numbers have gotten worse as the weeks have gone by.

The season currently averages a paltry 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.96 million viewers. That’s worse than Sing Your Face Off, a celebrity reality show that was burned off on Saturday nights in June.
To be fair, The Quest has had to compete with football games in some markets and has also been preempted by games on some local ABC stations. The ratings are still very, very low however and the network knew that the series would be interrupted when they scheduled it — a sign that they probably had no faith in it.
In the end, it’s highly unlikely that ABC will want to take a chance on ordering a second season of The Quest.

#WENEEDTHEQUEST The quest had expanded my imagination and I am really hoping to do a season two. My only request is if they somehow have the original contestants back for season two because I grew like an emotional bond with them. The Fates may have called them again because the vezier is free and is causing trouble. BAM, I just came up with the new plot for season two. But serious WE NEED THE QUEST!
There should definitely be a second season! I am older than the demographic studied, but I absolutely loved it! The problem was too little advertising before, and during the shows start. It wasn’t played up as big as the other reality shows when in fact it was actually better than most of all of the others! Give it another chance and see how it goes. I think it has a chance to do well with the right kind of advertising and scheduling!
They need to change the format a bit and make it an actual quest. Instead of always returning to the fates (ie the reality TV challenge) , and only having one location over and over again they need to incorporate it into the story better. Basically, like they did with the finale where they are eliminated in the middle of the quest, not having to return back to the place to be voted. Remove whoever fails that part like amazing race, and everyone else continues.

I definitely would like to see another season. A competition show where the contestants don’t stab each other in the back and work to a common goal – yes! And the scripted and part and actors cast in those roles were perfect for the show. It’s a shame that they showed it late in the summer, and against football. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do a second season of this. I watch it on the ABC app and fell in love with it. That’s all I’ve been thinking of, but when I saw rah it was very unlikely that they’ll have a second season, my heart brook to a million pieces. But when I read the comments, it gave me some hope because you guys loved it so maybe they’ll see this and reconsider. All I NEED is A SECOND SEASON OF THE QUEST, PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!!!!
The Quest was actually a show my son and I sat down together to watch. We enjoyed it immensely and I hope it renews next season. In fact I would love to be on the show!!!! I believe I could be the next one true hero!!!!
I never saw an advertisement which tells me that it wasn’t well advertised. I found it on Hulu and watched the whole first season there and absolutely loved it. My husband who isn’t much for following ANYTHING on tv actually follows this one. I seriously hope to see a second season.
Loved this show! Watched it with my 12 year old son. The most enjoyable reality show I’ve seen. The contestants were in it to live the fantasy, not to win a gob of money. And the supporting characters (esp. Sir Ansgar) made it fun to watch. It’s a shame that ABC didn’t have enough faith in it to promote it; they may have gained more viewers. Hope they bring it back!
I wonder if the executives at ABC will ever see this? They, and the companies that sponsored the series, should sit down and watch it The Quest from beginning to end. They would realize how valuable this show was. I should think that ABC would be anxious to promote a family oriented series. By not ordering another season they will be losing out on the chance to give their viewers wholesome entertainment that families can watch together. That would be a shame! Seeing this show was an amazing expirence. Though being underrated they did a hell of the job with this series . I hope to see a second season in the near future due to this being one of my preferences of TV, and how Imersly detail the story and reality of it all was. ABC all though it having a bad start up with good advertising this show will get 5 times the viewing amount due to the fantasy factor and how everyone wishes that they were in that day and age.
yes they should continue with the Quest. Love the fantasy and reality combination. really added a new dimension to a reality show, the actors were great! A fabulous twist to the reality shows.
I loved this show! Best so-called reality show yet. Very well done. I hope it goes another season.
This show just didn’t get advertised well. I watched the whole season on Hulu, and despite my own prejudgements, I was sucked into the fantasy of it all, and wanted to see a sequel. I hope they give it a fair shot in a second season.
I hadn’t seen many ads for this show and think people didn’t understand how it worked, fantasy, reality, competition. I’ve talked to people about the show and they didn’t know it was there to watch
They absolutely should. It is a wonderful show and resonates with so many people. Finally an exciting show that the whole family can watch!!! So very tired of ABC selling violence, and sex. I applaud ABC for entertaining us this summer with something that families can watch together – and also with an important message. It is not the biggest and strongest who are always the hero.
