ABC Family has decided to cancel their long-running TV series, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, after five seasons on the air. While there won’t be a sixth season, there’s still more to come.
Created by Brenda Hampton, Secret Life revolves around the relationships between families and friends and how they deal with unexpected pregnancies. Castmembers include Shailene Woodley, Kenny Baumann, Francia Raisa, Daren Kagasoff, Greg Finley, Megan Park, India Eisley, Molly Ringwald, Mark Derwin, Michael Grant, and Cierra Ramirez.
Debuting in 2008, Secret Life became ABC Family’s first hit scripted series and paved the way for future successes like Pretty Little Liars.

The ratings have come down over the years. To date, the fifth season has averaged a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demgraphic with 1.38 million viewers. Still, it remains one of ABC Family’s highest-rated series.
While the show is ending, there are still 13 installments to come. A holiday episode is slated for November 19th and the dozen final installments will start airing next March. By the end, there will be 121 episodes of Secret Life.
Hampton called the series regulars to break the news. It’s unknown if the final episode will give the show some closure, end on a cliffhanger, or simply be open-ended.

this show has tough me a lot like dont have sex in high school because it can lead to kid if your not careful. it sucks this show was cancelled and the way they ended it was suck ish but i dont think theres anything we can really do other then wish they had ended things with amy and ricky getting married and live a happy life wiith little john

Please don’t stop the show I love that show and I’m very upset about how it ended it broke my heart When it ended so please please please make a season six and maybe end that on a good note because the last episode on season five was heartbreaking

I am upset that they canceled the secret life of the American teenager. Me and my sister started watching this show on Netflix. It was so addicting and so good to watch.This show should have been renewed because I wanted to see what would have happened with everyone’s relationships. If you guys would have renewed this show it would have had a lot of viewers. So you should make new episodes of this show.
The secret life should NOT be cancelled. I say this bc I hate to see the cast and crew give up and not make more seasons! The directors creators etc just let us down and I think they need to make up for it by making season 6 this year which is….2016!! I have been glued to this show for weeks now, watching episode after episode on Netflix; it’s addicting! Pls make a season 6! Don’t leave us hanging like this! Everyone wants to know what happens to Amy in New York. Does she come back to Ricky and John? Do they go out to her? Does she end up with Ben (oh god I hope not!). Does Ricky go back to his bad boy ways and sleep around, or hook up with Clementine? Pls pls pls make a season 6!!!!
