Warner Bros. and Appian Way are close to hiring a new writer for The Twilight Zone movie. According to Variety, the studio is in negotiations with Joby Harold to rewrite a script that was initially written by Jason Rothenberg and then rewritten by Anthony Peckham.
Matt Reeves is set to direct the picture. Unlike the 1983 movie, which had four separate storylines, this new movie will have one story that incorporates various elements from the Rod Serling classic TV series.
Harold recently wrote All You Need Is Kill, an upcoming film that will star Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. Harold also wrote The Key Man, a thriller to be directed by Brian De Palma, and wrote and directed Awake, the 2007 thriller starring Hayden Christensen and Jessica Alba.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson Killoran, and Michael Ireland will produce The Twilight Zone movie for Appian Way.
What do you think? Do you like the idea of one story that incorporates Twilight Zone elements or would you prefer multiple stories?
I believe multiple story lines are appropriate for the movie.
I would much prefer an anthology format than one story
No, no, a thousand times, NO! When will Hollywood ever realize that the Twilight Zone only really worked when Rod Serling was alive? I realize I’m asking the near impossible here, but is it too much too ask that they come up with something new instead of constantly trying to re-invent the wheel by remaking old TV shows?
