Tonight marks the last scheduled episode of low-rated Undercovers. NBC has 13 installments of the cancelled TV show but only scheduled 11 of them. There’s no word on when or if the other two will see the light of day. So, what are fans missing?
Undercovers co-creator and executive producer Josh Reims told Blastr back in October that, “The main direction that we’re headed in the overall scheme of things is we have some mythology that’s starting to play out in the show now which will get larger and larger as we go along.”
Reims continued, “We find out in episode 12 or 13, I can’t remember which, the real reason that Steven and Samantha were actually brought back to the CIA. And it’s not just to save Leo, who was their friend. There’s much more involved in that.” Based on episode titles, it would seem that number 13, “The Reason,” holds the big secret. Episode 12 is titled “Dark Cover.”
Reims added, “There’s stuff that Carlton Shaw [Gerald McRaney] doesn’t know. He was left out of the loop by his boss. So everybody is sort of thrown for a loop near the end of the season and readjusting to what things are, as opposed to what they thought they were.” Shaw’s boss, James Kelvin (Alan Dale from Lost) was just introduced.
Of the Undercovers cancellation, Reims told Zap2It, “I’m really proud of the show. I thought it looked amazing and I loved working with the cast and crew. We had a lot of fun.” He added, “The show turned out pretty much the way I envisioned, and when it didn’t, it was actually better.” Reims admitted that the show just couldn’t attract a big enough audience to survive.
Whether the final two installments are aired or not, the last episode of Undercovers will leave fans up in the air. Reims noted, “I think the episodes are getting stronger every week, and I’m sorry we have to stop at 13, because we had so many more stories to tell with these people. Not to mention we have a great mythology arc… and [it] ends with a cliffhanger.”
NBC hasn’t announced any plans to release the remaining episodes of Undercovers.
What do you think? Will NBC ever air the last two episodes? How would you like to see the series end?

I loved the show I hate to see it canceled without giving it a fighting chance. We need positives on TV something we don’t see a lot of on TV. Maybe a miracle on 34th and NBC! Give the show back to the people!
Very disappointed in the cancellation of this show. I absolutely love it! There are many more shows out there that should go but instead they chose this one. I feel that if they would change the time or the night that it airs that it would have had a better chance.
If we were considered customers, the networks treat us like nothing. I am so tired of the networks ending a series without notifying the customer. Perhaps if they knew that with DVR’s, we will never watch their sponsers ads again
Have a heart, NBC–air the last two episodes, please!
It would be great if they would include the last two shows on the DVD release for the fans as an incentive to buy the DVD so they could learn the true size of the fan base.
I heard that Nielsons ratings doesn’t take in account, the number of people who watch it on line. I don’t have satalight anymore and watch everything on line now.
This is a good show.
PS I would and millions of people would like to see a new version of star trek out or continue on with Scott Backula version. JJ Abrams you do a great job.
In a world that is infested with reality shows, this series was very refreshing. My husband and I really got attached to the story line and I wish the network would give it a shot. At the very least, the last two episodes should be aired.
I am very disappointed in the cancellation of this show. I myself work and go to school but I record many shows during the week and Undercovers is one. There are many shows on TV, something for everykind of mind and this one show fit right in with your CSI’s and Law & Orders.
I agree with Viewer: since NBC has two additional shows, AIR THEM for the audience who stayed with them. The three primary new stars are great, and I hope to see them in future works.
This show actually has potential. With a little more edge this show is a winner. Go for it.
I absolutely love this show. Please reconsider airing the last two episodes so that we the fans can hae some closure. Thanks!
I think it is time for the networks to act responsibly to the viewers who DO like and follow a series. When the network makes plans to drop a show it should also make plans to tie it up with a final episode that does not leave fans completely hanging and hating the network. In this case, with only two episodes remaining you would think NBC could find a couple of time slots….. or worst case scenario at least release them for view on the internet.
I loved the show! I think Reims and Abrams have done a wonderful job with the show. I hope to see more shows like this and even this show coming back on. It took me a while to catch on but once I gave it a chance I was hooked. I love the cast especially both agents and their assistant guy, the brainiac, lol. Love him! Good luck on your next endeavor! Im a fan.
Please reconsider canceling this show. I absolutly love it.
I’m sorry to see the show end they had great chemistry and it was nice to see black actors who were not cast in a dumb comedy for a change. I hope they do play the last two episodes so it doesn’t leave fans in a quandry as to what we missed. Maybe they should have changed the time slot first before they axed it like they have done with other shows. I wish the cast well and hope they get another chance at a series.
