Netflix has renewed Marvel’s Jessica Jones TV series for a second season. Starring Krysten Ritter in the title role, the series features Jones, a former superhero, turned hard-drinking P.I.
The season one cast of Marvel’s Jessica Jones also includes David Tennant (Kilgrave), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty, and Wil Traval. It is executive produced by series showrunner Melissa Rosenberg and Liz Friedman, with Jeph Loeb.
This is the second Marvel series renewed by Netflix. Netflix renewed Daredevil, back in April. Last week, Netflix announced Marvel’s Daredevil season two will drop, March 18, 2016.
Marvel’s Luke Cage TV series, starring Mike Colter, is expected to hit Netflix this year. When an exact premiere date is announced, we will update.

Marvel’s Jessica Jones – Will Return for Second Installment
Currently streaming its first season on Netflix, Marvel’s Jessica Jones is a suspenseful, edgy look into the life of Jessica Jones, one of the most popular new Marvel characters of the last decade. After a tragic ending to her short-lived Super Hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a private investigator in New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood. Critics’ Choice award nominee Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) is joined by an amazing cast including David Tennant (Kilgrave), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty, and Wil Traval, among others. The series is executive produced by series showrunner Melissa Rosenberg (Twilight, Dexter) and Liz Friedman (Elementary), along with Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Daredevil, Lost, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).
A premiere date for Marvel’s Jessica Jones, season two, has yet to be announced. Back in November, we reported that scheduling of a second season would need to allow for Marvel’s Defenders contracted shooting schedule.
Deadline has more:
Jessica Jones was the second in a four-series Marvel package to debut and the second to land a 13-episode second-season renewal, joining Daredevil. Jessica Jones, from Twilight‘s Melissa Rosenberg, also introduced the character of Luke Cage, played by Mike Colter, who headlines the upcoming third Marvel series for Netflix. No premiere date for the second season of Jessica Jones was announced. Netflix’s Ted Sarandos hinted that the release pattern for the second seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones would depend on mini-series The Defenders, which has a contractual premiere date.
