24 is returning to the small screen with the reboot series of 24: Legacy arriving next month. There had been plans to bring Kiefer Suthlerland’s character and the world of 24 to the big screen, but those plans fizzled out.
Brian Glazer revealed the reasons behind those plans not moving forward for the FOX series. He said the following, per Deadline:
“I got Howard involved, I got Kiefer involved, I worked on the movie for two years. It just worked better for television. We couldn’t really find the right world to put it in, the right location. To base it in America seemed not very authentic whereas to do a TV show in America was the perfect bridge. We put it in European countries, but it wasn’t working there with the economics, we couldn’t find enough money to make it. So we couldn’t find the right location, we couldn’t find the right story, and it was always too expensive.”
Would you have been to the theaters to see Kiefer Sutherland and Jack Bauer on the big screen? Do you plan to check out 24: Legacy? Tell us what you think.
I would pay to see a great show in the theaters. I did for X-Files. 24 would have to restrictions on violence and language.
I want to check 24: Legacy, but since it is a Fox production I am already worried about the future of the show and of my time. I could check it on a blu-ray box later in the year when I a renewal was a certainty, but Fox has been releasing many tv shows only on DVD and since we’re on 2017, that is unacceptable.
Understandable to me.
