Katie won’t be keeping her family on their toes for a sixth season. ABC has cancelled the American Housewife TV show so it won’t be back for the 2021-22 television season.
A family comedy, American Housewife stars Katy Mixon, Diedrich Bader, Meg Donnelly, Daniel DiMaggio, Giselle Eisenberg, and Ali Wong. The sitcom centers on Katie Otto (Mixon), a confident and unconventional mother from the wealthy town of Westport, Connecticut. Katie wants to “keep it real” stand apart from her community’s “perfect” parents and their entitled children. Katie’s logic-driven husband, Greg (Bader), supports her efforts as best he can. Together, they try to make sure that their three kids — headstrong Taylor (Donnelly), snarky Oliver (DiMaggio), and obsessive-compulsive Anna-Kat (Eisenberg) — understand their family’s old-fashioned values, so they don’t end up carbon copies of their neighbors.
Airing on Wednesday nights, the fifth season of American Housewife averaged a 0.55 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.95 million viewers in the live+same day ratings. Compared to season four, that’s down by 7% in the demo and down by 9% in viewership.
The defacto series finale aired on March 31st. The comedy aired for 103 episodes.

Oh no!!! We looked forward to watching American House Wife every week! A great feel good & laugh with comedy with realistic characters & relatable lives. Who makes the decisions to cancel such a wonderful show? Someone should air AHW! No blood or guts, just a truly funny show that makes us all look forward to the continued weekly visit with Katie & her brood. Why do they take off a good show & force us to watch something else that peaks no interest or just turn off the tv! What a total shame!

What a shame and it left you with a great cliff hanger. Maybe another outlet will pick it up. If it does, bring back the original Anna Kat
I watched every week. I knew they would be in trouble when the old Anna-Kat was replaced.
I miss the old Anna-Kat; she’s what made the show.

I love this show. Katie is so real and the Greg so sweet and although I miss the first Anna-Kat the new one was starting to grow on me. Taylor and her boyfriend are perfect for each other and Oliver is finally starting to see money isn’t everything. I need to keep following this wonderful real family.
My kids and I look forward to watching this intelligent and hilarious show every week. Sooooo bummed it’s been canceled and sooooo hoping ABC will reconsider. PLEASE don’t leave us hanging with the BIG NEWS at the end of last season!
Bad decision. There are shows that you watch, and there are shows that you look forward to watching and thoroughly enjoy. This was the latter.

Another reason for me to cut the cord. This show was well written, well-acted, and smart. Too smart for ABC apparently.
NOOOO! One of my favorite shows. I guess there was too much change this season.

Noooooooo please reconsider and don’t cancel this show. This is my absolute FAVORITE show, the only one I enjoy watching and I have to know what is going to happen with all characters, like Katy’s pregnant, Taylor is engaged, etc. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE reconsider and don’t cancel this show
ABC is in trouble canceling everything the watchers want and like. Cable will be gone end of year, everything will be streaming. ABC will become to know the Hugh mistakes their making!
