Katie won’t be keeping her family on their toes for a sixth season. ABC has cancelled the American Housewife TV show so it won’t be back for the 2021-22 television season.
A family comedy, American Housewife stars Katy Mixon, Diedrich Bader, Meg Donnelly, Daniel DiMaggio, Giselle Eisenberg, and Ali Wong. The sitcom centers on Katie Otto (Mixon), a confident and unconventional mother from the wealthy town of Westport, Connecticut. Katie wants to “keep it real” stand apart from her community’s “perfect” parents and their entitled children. Katie’s logic-driven husband, Greg (Bader), supports her efforts as best he can. Together, they try to make sure that their three kids — headstrong Taylor (Donnelly), snarky Oliver (DiMaggio), and obsessive-compulsive Anna-Kat (Eisenberg) — understand their family’s old-fashioned values, so they don’t end up carbon copies of their neighbors.
Airing on Wednesday nights, the fifth season of American Housewife averaged a 0.55 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.95 million viewers in the live+same day ratings. Compared to season four, that’s down by 7% in the demo and down by 9% in viewership.
The defacto series finale aired on March 31st. The comedy aired for 103 episodes.

American Housewife should not have been cancelled, it was wholesome, funny and so much learned from the show, they need to reconsider and brinv it back.
Why would they cancel this? Why would they include so many cliffhangers in the finale without a confirmed renewed season??? They did not queerbait me with Oliver and Cooper for 5 seasons for nothing. ABC release what was planned for season 6 why leave it like that :/

As a fellow Fairfield County, Connecticut resident, I really enjoyed this show and the local references. (He pronounced Campo Beach as cAmpo) LOL I enjoyed the interplay between all the characters. This show will surely be missed.
My family and I watch this show and laught so much with it. It is our favorite show, we even repeat the seasons over and over in different occasions. I am very disappointed that it is canceled. We were very excited to see what was going to happen with Katie and Greg having a new baby. We like so many shows but I can assure you we only repeat out of season a few. And this one is one of them. Another decent show cancelled, I suppose to make room for more garbage Reality which isn’t really reality. One of the few programs worth watching. I have to admit though the writers were starting to mess this series up. They should of just gotten better writers.
I really enjoyed watching American Housewife, now nothing to look forward to that’s airing, this show deserves to continue. There’s so much stuff airing not worth watching, come back please!!!!!!
Please reconsider and bring this show, it’s such a great show with a great cast
Loved the show! So disappointed that it was canceled. We don’t need anymore reality shows. A funny uplifting 1/2 hour comedy show is a thing of the past. Bring American Housewife back!

Once again, programming decisions are made that make no sense. AH had better ratings than “Home Economics”, yet it gets cancelled and HE doesn’t.
We loved this show. My Grandchildren and I watched this together weekly. It will be missed greatly. It showed a lot of good things for children to not be snobby and selfish and to always help family. I pray they bring this back!!
