CBS plans to celebrate the end of Blue Bloods prior to airing the series finale in December. The Blue Bloods: Celebrating a Family Legacy special, produced as part of the Entertainment Tonight syndicated series, is set to air on the network later this month. on November 29th.
A staple of the Friday night schedule, the Blue Bloods series stars Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Marisa Ramirez, and Vanessa Ray. The police drama follows a family of law enforcement officers living and working in New York City.
Last November, CBS announced that season 14 would end the popular series. However, several cast members and viewers have pled with the network to reverse the decision. The possibility of a future spin-off of the drama has already been teased, but it will not happen for some time.
CBS revealed more about the special in a press release.
CBS announced today BLUE BLOODS: CELEBRATING A FAMILY LEGACY, a new ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT special, to air Friday, Nov. 29 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special airs)*.
This one-hour ET news special, celebrating 293 episodes of BLUE BLOODS, includes new exclusive interviews with the stars and recurring guest stars who share favorite memories and behind-the-scenes moments from the past 14 years. Hosted by ET’s Nischelle Turner and featuring archival interviews from the ET vault, the special serves as a love letter to the loyal fans who had dinner with the Reagan family every Friday night and upheld BLUE BLOODS as one of the top series on television.
Included in the show is a rare look inside the famous family dinner scene, where viewers learn family dinner secrets straight from the Reagans’ table. The special reveals new details about the first time the cast had family dinner during the pilot when they were strangers, and how that transformed the series into the global phenomenon it is today. Also, fans hear first-hand from the cast about what it is like filming on the streets of New York City and get a sneak peek at the emotional finale prior to the series send-off on Friday, Dec. 13 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
What do you think? Do you plan to watch this special on Black Friday? Will you be sad to see Blue Bloods end in December?
I think Blue Bloods should run as long as the fine actors want to continue. I can’t express how much this show has entertained me over many years! It has been a clean show, with many social problems that are important. The cast and fans have been so loyal. Why can’t CBS be loyal to us?
This is not only a crime fighting show. It’s a family show. It shows what it takes to be a family. The dinners are my favorite part of the show. It brings all the family together. I think it makes them closer and closer. I wish I had the wisdom of Frank Reagan when I was raising my kids because he is a wonderful father and boss coming from a family of cops this is one of my favorite cop shows and CBS is stupid to cancel it.
I will watch & I am so disappointed the show is ending. The BEST show in TV. Big mistake to end.
It is completely shocking that CBS would cancel this program. When Tom Selleck has been “begging” for you to reconsider this decision, it is just beyond belief. I just received an email from CBS asking me indicate which of the new programs this season do I like best – NONE OF THE ABOVE was not an option but that is my answer.
Yes, the only show I have consistently watched over the years, I look forward over the years to the new shows being aired on all the networks, this year is the worst, I also found “None of the Above” worth watching, it is sad.
I hate they are being canceled what crap will you be airing then.
BEST TV drama series ever! I’ve spoken with NYC police (Macy’s T’giving Day parade) and they are biggest fans. Some said they would like Selleck as their Commissioner as he is one of only 5 currently active Hollywood men to have served in our Armed Forces! (I am USAF”70-74)
Plots are generally 1st rate, the actors truly seem to be ‘family’ and location shooting is a big plus. I suspect the Reagan house will become a tourist destination just like the Mary Tyler Moore house in MN.
I will definitely NOT be watcing the special, Why give CBS ratings they are making the biggest mistake cancelling Blue Bloods Best show on all of television. This will be the last show I ever watch on CBS. Whoever decided to cancel Blue Bloods should be FIRED
We also agree. It is our favorite show but we are seniors and not important to networks.
Ditto!
Ditto!
They filmed 293 episodes? They couldn’t let them do 7 more?
I agree with jasmine she’s absolutely right
It is all about money! CBS president of CBS entertainment Amy Reisenbach sold out all Blue Bloods fans for more profits. Blue Bloods always won it’s slot and was in the top scripted shows. The actors even took pay cuts last year. Blame Amy!!!!!! My advice is cancel your Paramount+ subscriptions and stop watching new shows on CBS. I waited a whole year to watch Fire Country for free on DVD at my local library. No commercials. I know that no one is going to stop watching favorites like Survivor, but skip Matlock and Poppa’s House and other crap that… Read more »
CBS is making a big mistake canceling Blur Bloods. But CBS is noted for making stupid decisions, so they’re following their track record. Blue Bloods IS the vest show of any kind on regular TV. But it takes stupid managers from above to not see the value in keeping a terrific show on air or it’s loyal fan fair. I have watched this show from the beginning every Friday night on Channel 13 because of it’s great stories, dialogs, actors, and locations. It will never, can never be replaced with anything better.
I’m so sorry to see the end of Blue Bloods, especially when the ratings are still very good. It’s been a Friday night staple with me since the first show . I put in in the same category as NYPD Blue.!! Come on CBS why cancel a winner !!!!
Very disappointed that Blue Bloods has been cancelled. Why cancel one of the most popular shows? Doesn’t make sense. Shame on CBS
CBS is so stupid canceling blue bloods. Still doing great in the ratings. I won’t be watching CBS anymore.
