It’s time to bid farewell to Bones. Recently, creator Hart Hanson spoke with TVInsider about the end of the FOX series.
The long-running crime drama ends its 12th and final season tonight, March 28th, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The cast includes David Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel, Michaela Conlin, Tamara Taylor, TJ Thyne, and John Boyd.
In the interview, Hanson said he didn’t want to go to set during the last days of shooting because it was too emotional:
The other thing is I didn’t want to because it’s painful. It’s very painful to walk away from a show. My best friend ran it after I did, but I imagine it would be like trying to stalk an old girlfriend who had broken your heart on Facebook. It’s painful, and a complicated set of emotions. So I went on the last night we were shooting on the set. You saw what it looked like, which was its own thing. That brought tears to my eyes. I knew it was going to happen, but Jesus, they did a good job.”
Later, he added he’s very grateful Bones lasted as long as it did on FOX:
There were even network heads who didn’t want to talk about us…they didn’t love Bones. Our vindication is just surviving this long. It’s a lot like life; if you live long enough, they just start to like you. It’s really gratifying that what we set out to do we did: entertain people and repay the loyalty of the audience by sticking around. That was why it was so hard for any of us to be angry or upset when it was announced the 12th season would be our last. I think all of us are very grateful to be able to take out the show the way we wanted. In the end, we were respected by our network, which was a lovely thing to experience.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Bones? Are you sad to see the show ending?
A very sad time to watch it end after all these years!
Loved this show. Will miss it. Loved the progression of the characters
I watched this show from the first season, a great show going to be greatly missed. Hats off to the show runners, for first letting us know at the beginning of this season it was going to be the last and still have a great story line and they give us a great ending. Sad but good. I wish all the great people that worked on this show nothing but the best. Did all the folks at ABC take notes on how to end a great show, not just 30 seconds on the last episode on the last season like… Read more »
I will miss this show. Watched it from day 1. Always enjoyed it. Sad to see it end.
This is a sad day I will truely miss this show. This show is what my granddaughter watch together.
Have enjoyed the show from the very beginning and have watched all episodes faithfully. Really have enjoyed the eclectic group of characters. Hate to see it go!They did a good job with the ending.
This really sux. I have been watching Bones since Day One & all those at The Jeffersonian have been like family. The show can brag about it’s excellent ensemble cast, exciting storylines, interesting science, and I can’t believe I have to say goodbye to them all. There has been no show like it. Always a great, gory intro, someone finding a corpse, some falling in to it. I will miss Booth, Brennan, Max, Hodgkin’s, Angela, Cam, Zack, Sweets, and the rest. I wish the actors all the BEST & ,I hope they know how much we enjoyed them.
I agree 100% with Laura. I’ve never seen such an innovative show. The thing that made it so different was that not only did you get caught up in the story line (although I could have done with fewer serial killers) but just the science itself was so facinating. True, some of it was a little unrealistic but I loved it and will really miss it. I hope the whole gang has other jobs lined up, the were really a talented crew.
