TV show description:
Based on The WB’s series which ran from 1998 to 2006, the Charmed TV show is a supernatural fantasy drama centering on the Vera sisters –Melanie (Diaz) and Maggie (Jeffery) — whose mother, Marisol (Cruz), dies in what at first appears to be a tragic accident. Three months after losing their mom, Mel and Maggie discover they have an older sister, Macy (Mantock), whose existence their mother had kept a secret.
Following in her mother’s footsteps, Mel is a woman’s studies grad student at Hilltowne University. On the other hand, Maggie is a freshman who is considering joining a sorority and has an off-and-on relationship with Brian (Gillespie). Meanwhile, Macy is an accomplished geneticist.
Macy wants to connect with her sisters, but Mel, who has been unable to accept the official explanation of Marisol’s death, just can deal with this surprise and shuts her out. With their emotions heightened, all three sisters start exhibiting new abilities.
While Mel realizes she can freeze time, Maggie can read people’s thoughts, and Macy starts exhibiting telekinesis. Harry Greenwood (Evans), who they thought was taking over Marisol’s department at Hilltowne, tells the sisters that there is a good explanation for their new powers. In actuality though, Harry is a “Whitelighter,” ie a witch’s guide.
When the women learn their mother’s death was not an accident, Mel feels somewhat vindicated. It turns out that Marisol was murdered by mysterious dark forces. Now, these young women have to accept their destiny as “The Charmed Ones” and devote themselves to protecting humanity from the demons that prowl the earth.
As they learn to harness the “Power of Three,” the sisters realize they are stronger together — even though they’re up against the unknown evil which killed their mom.
Series Finale:
Episode #72 — The End is Never the End
Mel (Melonie Diaz), Maggie (Sarah Jeffery) and Kaela (Lucy Barrett), along with Harry (Rupert Evans) and Jordan (Jordan Donica), have now discovered that the cabal of foes coalescing to bring down the Power of Three are actually working for an ancient evil that’s been laying dormant since the dawn of magic. This powerful dark force — known as the Lost One — will be the ultimate test of the strength of the newly discovered sisterhood; forcing them to rekindle their connection…or face the destruction of magic itself.
First aired: June 10, 2022.
What do you think? Do you like the Charmed TV series? Should this TV show have been cancelled or renewed for a fifth season on The CW?
This reboot has none of the heart, charm and warmth of the original Charmed TV series which premiered in 1998 and ran for 8 seasons and had much higher ratings than the reboot. Would have preferred seeing the children of the Halliwell sisters in a Charmed continuation series with guest appearances from the actresses who played the Halliwell sisters. Their white lighter reminds me more of a wizard from Harry Potter than a white lighter. Everything also seems rushed in the episodes and all over the place. You know right away who is the villain. There is no suspense. The… Read more »
THIS IS SO TRUE!! Thank you! It’s a rip off and a disgrace if you want to make this show fine but at least come up with your own name. Don’t hurt the legacy, they just wanted the name hoping to get the original charmed fans to watch
If you’ll notice it’s written by the same people as the original Charmed. It’s great and I hope it keeps going!!
Please renew Charmed 2018.
They should bring back Charmed 2018. I was getting into it. Please bring it back
This show should continue forever as always interesting to watch.
I enjoy viewing this remake of the original series passionately. I do hope the ratings continues to endure.
I watched all the original Charmed and this one is right up there with it. I hate to miss an episode
I think that what ever network or people that had the original idea of getting the original cast of charmed to get together for a reunion to air on tv was a good idea. Even if it may not have been all of them. The original series ended with all three of the witches haveingfamilies and husbands, it may have behooved the networks to consider a series with the adult children of the Halliwell sisters to continue into a series with them, and have the Halliwell sisters to make guest appearances like they did with Grams and the Halliwell sisters… Read more »
Have you noticed it’s got the same writers ect from the original??
awesome show…plz renew
Great show, great actors and actresses I hope the show continues, very entertaining.
I love Charmed!! I watched the first Charmed years ago and thought it was great. I think the new series fits right in with everything else on the CW too. The sisters make me want to know what’s gonna happen next. Please renew!
fan of the original but also am loving the new charmed and hope to see it keep airing because it keeps geting better with ever episode
I was very disappointed to see how much has been changed. Im a die hard original Charmed TV series. I like many others thought you should have picked up the story line with their children and guest star piper, pheobe etc. Unfortunately after seeing the initial airing of the new charmed I was so disappointed I’ll stick with my reruns of the originals till someone on the writers get with it. Blah!
I would love to see the original series come back with the halliwell kids instead of this boring ass show it should be cancel.
I think I would like this better if the actors were able to actually act! I gave it a shot and I hope it gets the axe. I wasn’t a super fan of the original Charmed but it was better than this trash.
I absolutely love this reboot! Gets better every episode. I’m excited to see where it goes. Thank you for creating this fun new take on Charmed.
Please cancel this atrocity. This is a garbage of a so called “reboot”. It shames the original and over 90% of fans aren’t watching! Compare the ratings! MILLIONS watched the original on their air dates and still watch the reruns. This reboot is barely hitting or retaining viewer rates. The original had higher ratings at a time when technology and social media were not as vast. Clearly this show needs to go. The CW needs to stop lying to themselves in thinking that this is worth the “viewers” that they were missing. I have been watching the ratings and they… Read more »
IT’S THE SAME WRITERS!!
First of all I am a loyal fan of the original charmed series. I must admit I was a bit skeptical about watching it’s 2019 reboot. But I saw that it wasn’t a remake at all no copying of characters etc I thought I would give it a shot and to be honest I was pleasantly surprised. It was actually rather good I would personally love to see more. I am disappointed in fellow fans of the original show though I get it I’m a die hard loyal fan too but there is no need to be so god damn… Read more »
Yeah… the problem isn’t the contrast to the original in itself, the problem is its written as a political-ideological change message trying to pass itself off as entertainment, the characters themselves are soo poor in depth that you can predict everything that character is going to do based on the most basic 8th grade storytelling, you cannot picture yourself becoming friends with these people at all, (bit of a comparison here because the original charmed, as do most good stories, invite you into their homes, not make you feel like your trash for not accepting this as the ‘norm’). As… Read more »
LOVE YOUR SENTIMENT. I FEEL THE SAME. GREAT SHOW ON ITS OWN.
