Hallmark wants to give Abby’s and Evan’s relationship a little more time. The cable channel has renewed the Chesapeake Shores TV series for a sixth and final season. The fifth season finished airing in October.
A Canadian-American drama, the Chesapeake Shores TV series stars Meghan Ory, Treat Williams, Diane Ladd, Robert Buckley, Barbara Niven, Laci J. Mailey, Emilie Ullerup, Brendan Penny, and Andrew Francis. The story explores the lives of the O’Brien family, after the homecoming of eldest daughter Abby O’Brien (Ory), a high-powered career woman and divorced mother of two. Over the past few seasons, Abby has leaned on her family to strike a balance between her professional and personal lives. The fifth season saw her coming into her own as her father Mick’s (Williams) new business partner and facing a new challenge when successful and eccentric entrepreneur Evan McKenzie (Buckley) brings a new development project into town.
Airing on Sunday nights, the fifth season of Chesapeake Shores averaged a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.46 million viewers. Compared to season four, that’s down by 46% in the demo and down by 14% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. The series is the lowest-rated of Hallmark’s limited slate of original scripted shows.
Here’s the sixth season renewal announcement. Based on the cast listed, it appears that Ladd won’t be returning.

I’m so happy!!! Love the show.
I’ve loved watching Chesapeake Shores!
I am so very happy for another season of this show. Love it. Can’t wait.
The show needs Jesse Metcalfe back the new characters don’t do the show justice. Abby’s new loves are not the actors Jesse was.
It was heart breaking when he left and Abby’s acting isn’t the same.
I’m so excited to hear that a new season is coming,,I wish they would do a marathon so I could watch all seasons because I think I have missed one. But I’m so happy about the news.
Email viewers@crownmedia.com and send your feedback to Hallmark! If enough viewers share their frustration with the shows cancellation maybe Management will reevaluate their decision.
I am so happy to hear there will be a new season. I love the show.
I love this show. I don’t want it cancelled
I am so happy it is coming back. Me and my niece watch it together
Love Chesapeak Shores. Recently binge watched all 5 series. Sand when it finished. Happy to hear 6th season coming. Bring back Trace please
If the show does not include Diane Ladd and Jesse Metcalfe, the new showrunner is making terrible decisions.
Glad that it will get one more season. It is a good family show.
I hate this show is being cancelled. Its a good clean family show with ups and downs like real life. Hallmark has already cancelled 1 good show. The Good Witch. That was a great family show also! Whats wrong with leaving on these shows instead of tasteless rude violent or vulgar shows! Come in Hallmark. THINK!
I don’t want the show to end I look forward to watching the show, there’s not a lot of family shows on please rethink this, don’t take it away . You stopped Good Witch and that was a great show . If you don’t have good TV shows then people don’t stay home and then bad things happen.
I love this show and sad it will be ending. I look forward to seeing the 6th series later this year.
