Hallmark wants to give Abby’s and Evan’s relationship a little more time. The cable channel has renewed the Chesapeake Shores TV series for a sixth and final season. The fifth season finished airing in October.
A Canadian-American drama, the Chesapeake Shores TV series stars Meghan Ory, Treat Williams, Diane Ladd, Robert Buckley, Barbara Niven, Laci J. Mailey, Emilie Ullerup, Brendan Penny, and Andrew Francis. The story explores the lives of the O’Brien family, after the homecoming of eldest daughter Abby O’Brien (Ory), a high-powered career woman and divorced mother of two. Over the past few seasons, Abby has leaned on her family to strike a balance between her professional and personal lives. The fifth season saw her coming into her own as her father Mick’s (Williams) new business partner and facing a new challenge when successful and eccentric entrepreneur Evan McKenzie (Buckley) brings a new development project into town.
Airing on Sunday nights, the fifth season of Chesapeake Shores averaged a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.46 million viewers. Compared to season four, that’s down by 46% in the demo and down by 14% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. The series is the lowest-rated of Hallmark’s limited slate of original scripted shows.
Here’s the sixth season renewal announcement. Based on the cast listed, it appears that Ladd won’t be returning.

I really enjoy this series. Would like to see a wrap-up about Abbie & Evan’s relationship, Conner’s health & what about Margaret, Kevin & Sarah having a baby, and finally what will Megan’s decision about the curator job. Basically the whole family’s lives to reach a proper ending, no cliff hangers.
I agree
I’m so sorry the show is going away. I have enjoyed it’s entire run and will miss the entire cast and the family dynamics. Dissapointing!!
Need Jesse to come back, especially as final season
Can’t wait for season. Didn’t like to hear that it was the 6th and final
Love Chesapeake Shores..look forward to season 6. Love all of Hallmark Series
Very pleased 6th season coming. The whole series has been great family watching with all actors playing their respective roles well. We have watched on NETFLIX and do hope the last series follows on. The concept improvements compared to the books do it justice and the setting scenery outstanding.
Glad to hear Chesapeake Shores is coming back this summer. We’ve watched it since it started. Likeable cast, gorgeous scenery. Still miss the Jesse Metcalfe character. Not so sure about the Robert Buckley character.
I have not watched CS for a while now. Just happened to see that it was renewed for its last season, as I have been watching to see if a different series on a different network is being continued (and it is!!!) Lost interest when the new show runner took the heart out of the show and stopped watching this series shortly after that. Have not been watching Hallmark at all lately. There are just so many other options out there.
I am pleased it’s returning for a 6th season but very sad it’s the final series.
I am so happy it is returning, but I’m very sad this will be the final season.
Great news! Such a great show! wish it wasn’t the final season!
Thank you. It just didn’t seem finished yet.
So happy it’s coming back! Great entertainment
I am so happy it’s coming back!!!
I am so glad that Chesapeake Shores is having another season. I so much enjoy this program. I am so sad to see it go.
