Did you miss Day Break on ABC last night? If so, you’re certainly not alone. We’ve been innundated with emails and traffic from people looking for details on what’s happened to the Taye Diggs series.
For those who don’t know, Day Break has been pulled from primetime by ABC after just six episodes due to low ratings. The on-going storyline is hardly resolved with seven unaired episodes left in the season. ABC has said they will post episodes (one per week) on their website but many people don’t have a powerful enough computer, can’t access the Internet long enough to watch, don’t have a fast Internet connection or, for many other reasons, simply can’t view the episodes. In short, millions of people who could have seen future episodes on free network television, will never see this excellent series — and we think the decision-makers should know.
So, we’re inviting you to sign a petition that asks the network and the production companies (Gross Entertainment and Touchstone Television) to release the series so that more people can see it — to return the series to network TV or at the least, to release it on DVD. With enough interest, there could even be a second season or a movie.
Let your friends, neighbors and co-workers know — anyone who misses Day Break — where they can find this petition. Naturally, the more names are collected, the better.
To sign the petition, fill out the “comments” box below. You only need to leave your name, city and state (or country). You may leave comments if you wish but please try to keep them civil. We’ll be monitoring the petition to ensure that it stays clean of spam or inappropriate comments. Let’s save Day Break!
Please note, due to the overwhelming response, 5,000 comments have been archived (for bandwidth issues).
To ABC, Gross Entertainment & Touchstone Television:
cc: Taye Diggs
We, the undersigned have enjoyed much of your programming, particularly the outstanding Day Break series. We have enjoyed the Taye Diggs series each week and are dismayed that it has been pulled from the primetime schedule.
We believe that the ratings have not accurately shown the show’s popularity for success. After just six episodes, we believe that Day Break was not given enough time to fully establish a potentially huge audience. Please remember that many very popular shows like MASH, 24 and Cheers were not immediate hits.
We understand that ABC is posting the remaining episodes online but, for a variety of reasons, millions of people are not able to see these episodes — resulting in lost viewership for you and disappointment and frustration for them.
We respectfully request that you return Day Break to network television and to consider continuing production of further episodes or even a film. At the very least, we ask that you make the existing episodes available to a wider audience via a DVD release.
Thank you in advance for your attention and consideration.

I am extremely upset that DAYBREAK aws canceled. I was sitting on my couch and wondered if DAYBREAK was going to be on anymore, so I got on the internet and found out that THE BEST SHOW WAS CANCELED!!! When I saw the preview, I thought the show was going to be a stinker, but since there was nothing on I decided that I would give the show a shot. From that very first episode I was hooked and couldn’t wait until it came on each week. I hope the idiots at ABC read this and realize that they made… Read more »
Day Break is an outstanding show. I just read a report that the seventh episode ONLY attracted 3.1 million viewers and that it was to be pulled immediately. 3.1 million, huh? is that all? sounds like a ton of freakin people to me… ABC, you blew it – beside Boston Legal, DayBreak was your best show. way to sell out, fruit cake!
Where the hell is the last episode you ABCholes!

One of the best show ever, how can the end it? Move to nbc?
LOVE Day Break! Bring it back!
Where is the final episode!?!!
ABC, Either bring it back or sell it to someone (SCIFI) with the “stuff” to air smarter, less mainstream entertainment.
I was just searching the net thinking I would be able to watch Day Break. I can’t believe ABC did not put it on line further more I am shocked the pulled it off the air. Day Break was the only reason I looked foward to Wednesday night. I turned to channel 7 for about three weeks before I found out the show was cancelled. PLEASE BRING IT BACK.
When I was told that Daybreak was cancelled I didn’t believe it but then it didn’t come back on after the holidays so I did some research and just recently found that it really was cancelled. Thank God the episodes are available online…although the finale keeps getting postponed for some reason. I feel bad for the folks who can’t watch it online. Please ABC, put this entire season on DVD. I’ll be the first in line to buy it. This is a great, action-packed, addictive TV show that was loved by millions in spite of the fact that it was… Read more »
I absolutely love Day Break and am extremely upset that the show was cancelled. Talented actors and a NEW EXCITING PLOT!! We are lacking this in the current TV lineup, so please bring it back!
What happened to teh season finale? Bad enough that we have to watch online but it really makes me upset when ABC cotinues to disrespect viewers by not providing the content ontime. Have scheduled a Daybreak party to watch the finale with friends and have had to cancel because it is not online. No message from ABC either as to when we can expect it. How could a show this good with such interest be treated this way?
I’m sorry that Day Break was cancelled. I was really enjoying the series. Please consider giving it another chance.
Smartest show I’ve ever seen.
I want to see the last episode!
