Ryan Murphy has had a hand in creating a string of very successful shows over the years. His new Doctor Odyssey show has been sandwiched between two very popular ABC shows, 9-1-1 and Grey’s Anatomy. Is Doctor Odyssey sure to be a hit, or could it still flop? Will it be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
A medical drama series, the Doctor Odyssey TV show was created by Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Baken. The series stars Joshua Jackson, Don Johnson, Phillipa Soo, and Sean Teale. In the story, Dr. Max Bankman (Jackson) is the new on-board doctor for a luxury cruise ship. On board, Captain Robert Massey (Johnson) and his staff work hard and play even harder. It’s all-hands-on-deck as Max and his small but mighty medical team — Nurse Avery Morgan (Soo) and Nurse Tristan Silva (Teale) — navigate unique medical crises and each other, miles from shore. Guests in the first season include Shania Twain, John Stamos, Gina Gershon, Kelsea Ballerini, Chord Overstreet, Cheyenne Jackson, Laura Harrier, and Justin Jedlica.

Nothing close to reality. You never light candles on a cruise ship. The whole premise of a cruise is misleading. If you are in to it because of the story line, it is a soap put into a false premise. Love cruising, but this is not it and you do not see that type of medical situations on cruise ship. They get coast guard and helicopters involved in serious illness. Sorry.
I love the show. I love, love to see Joshua Jackson and Dan Johnson. Could hardly wait for Thursday 9 pm slot.
I’m on the fence about this show. My husband and I have been on several cruises, and I can tell you that the crew, especially the medical staff do not behave this way. I realize this is a luxury cruise line, but still….. give me a break. Doubt if show will last the whole season.

Bad premise, bad script.
My sister and I watched this show together last night. Neither of us was impressed.
Poorly written and acted program. Nothing in it caught our attention enough to ever watch it again. We watch the whole thing hoping it would improve/gel the characters, the concept, the acting. It didn’t get any better.
