Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

Very disappointed. The season finale was epic. I can’t believe abc would not continue as so many people are addicted to watching the show. I watch it on Hulu as I don’t have cable.
Terribly disappointed this show has been cancelled. Finally a compelling mystery on prime time tv! If I had known about the cancellation I would not have watched the cliffhanging last episode. I wish abc world consider bringing it back.
Best show I have watched this season! How can you cut us off with such a cliff hanger? Shame on you ABC.

I really can’t believe The Family was cancelled! I know people have binge watched it and are hooked! This is one of the best shows on TV in recent history! I hope they reconsider. I am so shocked this wasn’t given a chance for a second season! I hope someone reconsiders!
Such a great show and season 2 would have been great with Adam in the picture. So disappointed!

I am at the point of stopping watching new series by any network. I get into it and they always cancel and never give me a series finale to bring it to an end so you are left in limbo wondering “what if”…..
Just when things were heating up, they cancel The Family. I’m so disappointed that ABC left us hanging like that.
It was the only show along with Greys Anatomy I watch on ABC of prime time! Great cast and great show! Extremely disappointed ABC
This show was one of my favorites!!! PLEASE someone pick the show up! ABC keeps cancelling my favorite shows and I’m to the point of not watching anything on ABC again. They bring great shows, get viewers hooked, then cancel. This show was AWESOME!!
Also, does ABC take into consideration the viewers on HULU? Times have changed. People are not loyal to a certain hour, unless you are the news or Late Night show. People watch TV shows at their Leisure.
The Family is the best written tv show since Dexter or Six Feet Under. My mouth was open at the finale of each episode. How can it be that this was not appreciated. I’d say poor promotion especially at the beginning. This makes me crazy and very disappointed.
