What’s This TV Show About?
A drama series airing on the FOX television network, the Fantasy Island TV show is based on the 1977-84 series of the same name. This incarnation stars Roselyn Sánchez, Kiara Barnes, and John Gabriel Rodriquez, with Alexa Mansour recurring. The story is set at a luxury resort, where any fantasy guests request is fulfilled, although they rarely turn out as expected. Different people arrive at the resort with dreams and desires and depart enlightened and transformed through the magical realism of Fantasy Island. Elena Roarke (Sanchez) is the steward of this mysterious island and is a descendant of the iconic Mr. Roarke. Assisting Elena is Ruby Okoro (Barnes), a young woman with an old soul who arrives with a terminal illness and is given a new lease on life there. There’s also pilot Javier (Rodriquez), the head of island transportation and a jack of all trades, and Helene (Mansour), a young woman who comes to the island looking for her biological father. Guest stars in the second season include Frankie J. Alvarez, James Denton, Izzy Diaz, Rachael Harris, Teri Hatcher, Cheryl Hines, Marie Osmond, Kyla Pratt, Jason Priestley, Andy Richter; Jai Rodriguez, and Lynn Whitfield.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of Fantasy Island averaged a 0.20 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.77 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 32% in the demo and up by 4% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (includes DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled. Telly’s Take
Will FOX cancel or renew Fantasy Island for season three? The first season’s traditional ratings weren’t great but episodes typically drew 60-75% more viewers in the live+7 day delayed viewing. The network also got a lot of play out of the reruns and the network’s studio is one of the show’s producers (so it gets a piece of the post-network revenue). The network needs hour-long series that it owns, so I think there is a good chance that Fantasy Island will be renewed. I’ll update this page with breaking developments. This is the worse news ever. I have enjoyed this show cast storylines since the first show. Why cancel this show. Why??? I feel like i just lost my best friend. We loved this show for our family.
Streaming killed too many shows now. I never watch same day. That defeats the purpose of owning dvr. Ughhhhhhhh

Fantasy Island is a great drama and fun. My husband and I both love this show. We don’t share the same interests, therefore any mutual show is treasured.
Please DO NOT cancel Fantasy Island!! I watch on my streaming device, as most people do, so I feel the rating system isn’t accurate. Especially with covid having a hand in it as well, didn’t give the show a fair shot! There are so many ways the show can go n it was just getting good. Please reconsider!!!
Like many others have commented, I love this show. I remember sitting and watching the original, Fantasy Island, with Ricardo Montalban and who can forget his little sidekick, Tatoo, “The plane, the plane!” This show is a nice change from all the police and detective shows that are on and it’s family friendly, just like the original. There’s so much violence on a lot of shows anymore and I miss the family friendly shows that were on when I was younger, well younger than I am now. PLEASE! Renew Fantasy Island 2021 series. I look forward to watching each epis[de. The actors are Amazing and in sync with each other. I will admit I love this newer version of Fantasy Island better than the older original show. I again PLEASE keep this series going.
This New “Fantasy Island” is so Awesome!!! I was intrigued by the original when I was younger but this does even more that that…I feel transformed after watching the episodes. I have chronic pain and it takes my mind away from that to “The Island” even for just an hour with each episode. I waited and waited after the 1st season for Season 2. I truly hope there will be a Season 3!!! With all of the horrible stuff out there (multiple mass shootings, COVID, etc), it’s nice and so refreshing to have Fantasy Island to look forward to…please bring… Read more »
I absolutely adore the freshness of this show! I love the characters. With so much crazy in the world, I so enjoy this breath of fresh air! Not to mention the memories it brings from my childhood! Please keep it going!
