What’s This TV Show About?
A drama series airing on the FOX television network, the Fantasy Island TV show is based on the 1977-84 series of the same name. This incarnation stars Roselyn Sánchez, Kiara Barnes, and John Gabriel Rodriquez, with Alexa Mansour recurring. The story is set at a luxury resort, where any fantasy guests request is fulfilled, although they rarely turn out as expected. Different people arrive at the resort with dreams and desires and depart enlightened and transformed through the magical realism of Fantasy Island. Elena Roarke (Sanchez) is the steward of this mysterious island and is a descendant of the iconic Mr. Roarke. Assisting Elena is Ruby Okoro (Barnes), a young woman with an old soul who arrives with a terminal illness and is given a new lease on life there. There’s also pilot Javier (Rodriquez), the head of island transportation and a jack of all trades, and Helene (Mansour), a young woman who comes to the island looking for her biological father. Guest stars in the second season include Frankie J. Alvarez, James Denton, Izzy Diaz, Rachael Harris, Teri Hatcher, Cheryl Hines, Marie Osmond, Kyla Pratt, Jason Priestley, Andy Richter; Jai Rodriguez, and Lynn Whitfield.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of Fantasy Island averaged a 0.20 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.77 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 32% in the demo and up by 4% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (includes DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled. Telly’s Take
Will FOX cancel or renew Fantasy Island for season three? The first season’s traditional ratings weren’t great but episodes typically drew 60-75% more viewers in the live+7 day delayed viewing. The network also got a lot of play out of the reruns and the network’s studio is one of the show’s producers (so it gets a piece of the post-network revenue). The network needs hour-long series that it owns, so I think there is a good chance that Fantasy Island will be renewed. I’ll update this page with breaking developments. Yes it appeared to have the star quality that the 1977 fantasy island had and it ran 7 years to 1984!
I kept watching hoping for a spark of the original. But they just went further and further on the Woke train. Just like the Quantum Leap reboot. Hollywood just can’t help itself. They apparently don’t realize that families with children don’t want their kids watching stuff like this. Furthermore, most of the people that they are trying to target with their social engineering agenda don’t watch this either, they are out partying, not watching TV. I watched the original when I was growing up and the reboot is amazing. Please reconsider another station/ streaming platform if needed. DONT CANCEL!!!
It’s hard to battle thru the crap to find the treasures on tv. The new Fantasy Island was intelligent, thought provoking, relevant to ‘today’. Of course it was cancelled. Trying to find out when & where to watch it was an unlooked for education. By the time I found it, it was cancelled! So sad. Maybe if a day & time was not only chosen, but adhered to, it would have made all the difference.
Bring fantasy island back! Love this show & they cancel it!!!!
Really like the show. It made you feel happy, it was very tranquil! Made you feel like you were actually there with them on the island. I liked Ruby, I like her and her husband story of when they got there on the island when they were elderly and how she stayed. It was a very touching story. And then they go and cancel the series?? I really hope somebody else would pick it up.
Finally a good show, and they cancel it. Go figure!! Ugh!

I liked the show, and I do would have loved it for s 3rd season to see what’s going to happen with ruby in the future. I guess a gun show is more worth renewing than a family show where kids could enjoy watching.

Numbers aren’t everything. Sometimes you need “great” quality shows on the air, even though a vast majority of people do not even watch tv on the “regular” tv anymore, which is apparently where you are getting your ratings (false numbers). I can’t speak for others but I do hear people getting tired of the same “old” cops and robbers (with guns and violence) tv shows. “Fantasy Island” provides great non-violent entertainment – which is what this country (world) needs right now.
