With its freak flag billowing in the breeze, Hulu has released the Freakish TV show’s official “first look” teaser. Watch it, below. AwesomenessTV’s teen horror series stars: Liza Koshy, Meghan Rienks, Hayes Grier, Melvin Gregg, Adam Hicks, Tyler Chase, Leo Howard, Aislinn Paul, Chad L. Coleman, Mary Mouser, and Chachi Gonzales.
Freakish, season one, premieres Monday, October 10, 2016. The entire 10-episode first season drops on the debut date, for your binge watching pleasure. Also, as part of a special launch week promotion called #FreakWeek, Tumblr will debut two new episodes of the Halloween event series from AwesomenessTV on a custom Freakish Tumblr page every day between October 10th and October 14th.
Freakish was created by Beth Szymkowski who wrote the pilot and executive produces with Brian Robbins, Shelley Zimmerman, Matt Lewis, and Chris Grismer, who is directing the pilot. Scott Levine is producing.
A horror thriller-drama, Freakish is set after a meltdown at the local chemical plant. A group of high schoolers struggles against the predatory mutant freaks who have taken over their small town.
Hulu says, “#FreakWeek is a first-of-its-kind event that will allow all fans and viewers to preview and discover Freakish for free on Tumblr (for a limited time), or stream the entire series on Hulu anytime.”
Here is more, from Hulu:
During Saturday detention, bells ring signaling a containment drill and evacuation – not out of the ordinary for a town with a large chemical plant. The 20 students and the basketball coach retreat to the school fallout shelter for the duration of the drill. Only it’s not a drill… When the sirens stop and they return to the school lobby, they find their town has been decimated by an explosion. They see no signs of life outside their high school’s front doors. More frightening, those who were not in the bunker appear to be infected…
“Our Gen Z audience craves binge-worthy, on-demand entertainment, which is why we’re excited to be in business with Hulu,” said Shelley Zimmerman, executive producer and head of scripted series for AwesomenessTV. “Brian Robbins and I have had a longstanding relationship with Craig Erwich, and we look forward to collaborating with him and his team to bring Freakish to Hulu.”
