What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the ABC television network, The Good Doctor stars Freddie Highmore, Antonia Thomas, Nicholas Gonzalez, Chuku Modu, Beau Garrett, Hill Harper, Tamlyn Tomita, and Richard Schiff. The medical drama comes from from House creator David Shore and Lost vet Daniel Dae Kim and is based on a South Korean series of the same name.
The Good Doctor centers on Dr. Shaun Murphy (Highmore), a new surgical resident with autism and savant syndrome. His incredible memory and keen ability to perceive spatial relations inform Shaun’s gifted comprehension of his patients. Meanwhile, his autism can hinder his ability to communicate with others. With only the help of his advocate, Dr. Aaron Glassman (Schiff), Shaun must challenge the skepticism and prejudices of the hospital’s board and medical staff, in order to do his job and save lives.

Telly’s Take
Will The Good Doctor be cancelled or renewed for season two on ABC? It premiered with very healthy ratings, was picked up for a full season, and a thriving drama is just what the doctor ordered for the Alphabet Network. As long as the ratings don’t drop that much, my gut says it will easily score a renewal. For now, I will keep an eye on the Nielsens and will update this page with breaking developments, as well as any change in this show’s prognosis. This show is so good who in the hell wants to cancel it ????, there are lots of people who watch this tv show and absolutely love, the acting is so good and the story, the plot is all exciting and unexpectedly brilliant
Please give us a 2nd season of The Good Doctor!!!!!!!! I have 2 autistic kiddos and have promoted this awesome show to all my family, giving them all better perspective on my sweet children’s disorder! Please give us a 2nd (and 3rd, 4th and 5th season!!!!)

I am OBSESSED! I hope they renew this show!! I love seeing how they are trying to make autism more aware to the public and show that we all face problems just the same. I want to see Shawn get better and face his fears and overcome his trials. His character has so much personality, I love it! You can be ANYTHING you set your mind to and always stand up for what you believe in! Great message through this series!
I absolutely love this show… the story lines… the feelings these characters play are all AMAZING! I am in suspense for the remainder of the season.. I truly hope they do not cancel the show..
This show is as generic as they come. Every episode there is some weird medical situation which only the pseudo autistic genius can solve. It is not a bad show, not at all, just a carbon copy of many other shows in the past and surely many other shows in the future.
That’s why it will be renewed. As Chuck Lorre has repeatedly proven, aiming for mediocrity with mass appeal is a recipe for commercial success.

I love this show. Really hope it returns for another season.
It was an excellent show, and ought to be renewed. It is intriguing to see an autistic person demonstrating talent and ability. It is a difficult character to play, yet Freddie Highmore does a good job. Even though some viewers do not agree that it is not realistic for an autistic person to be a good surgeon like in this show, it is REFRESHING to watch something so different. With so much sexual activities and foul languages in TV shows nowadays, it’s just nice to have a few shows like this. WHY THE FIRST SEASON HAD SO FEW EPISODES????????
