TV show description:
Based on characters from the Batman comic books, this dark crime drama tells the early stories of iconic characters, before they became legendary crimefighters, villains. and vigilantes.
Growing up in Gotham City’s surrounding suburbs, James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) romanticized the city as a glamorous and exciting metropolis where his late father once served as a successful district attorney. He’s two weeks into his new job as a Gotham City detective and he’s engaged to his beloved fiancée, Barbara Kean (Erin Richards). Gordon is living his dream but hopes he can restore the city back to the pure version he remembers it was as a kid.
Brave, honest and earnest, the new detective is partnered with the brash, but shrewd police legend Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue). The two end up stumbling upon the city’s highest-profile case — the murder of local billionaires Thomas and Martha Wayne.
At the scene of the crime, Gordon meets the crime’s sole survivor; the Waynes’ intense 12-year-old son, Bruce (David Mazouz). Gordon feels an inexplicable kinship to Bruce and, moved by the boy’s profound loss, Gordon vows to catch the killer.
As he navigates the often-underhanded politics of Gotham’s criminal justice system, Gordon confronts imposing gang boss Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) and mob kingpin Carmine Falcone (John Doman).
He also encounters unusual characters who will end up becoming some of the city’s most feared villains — future Catwoman, teenage Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova); The Penguin, Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor); and The Riddler, Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith).
The story follows Gordon’s turbulent rise through the Gotham City police department, led by Police Captain Sarah Essen (Zabryna Guevara). He goes head-to-head with major crimes unit detectives Renee Monyoya (Victoria Cartagena) and Crispus Allen (Andrew Stewart Jones).
It also focuses on the unlikely friendship that Gordon forms with the young heir to the Wayne fortune. Bruce is being raised by his unflappable butler, Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee). It’s a friendship that will last all of their lives and will play a crucial role in helping the young boy eventually become the famed cape crusader that he’s destined to be.
Episode #100 — The Beginning…
The series flash-forwards 10 years into the future, as Bruce is set to return to Gotham for the opening of the new Wayne Tower. A series of crimes leads Gordon to believe Penguin and The Riddler are up to their old tricks. However, when Bullock is framed for a murder, Gordon begins to piece together an even more sinister plot targeting the city, and a new figure emerges from the shadows to be the hero Gotham desperately needs.
First aired: April 25, 2019.

I really like this new show and hope the story continues
Love GOTHAM, Great series so far. Something different is always Great.
Definitely RENEW!
Thank You FOX for keeping us entertained and guessing. I really appreciate the fact that you keep shows and don’t cancel them after 1 season. This is a great idea just keep it close to the Dark Knight storyline and you’ll have a hit! I think it’s awesome delving into the characters back stories! We already know and love the characters just keep us in love with them! By the way, excellent genre style graphics it adds a bit more to the mystery and darkness of the characters! Excellent casting also!
way to go fox keep that line up going
Sorry fans, but once again this is a show that’s been hyped to be fantastic, but really underwhelmed in both writing and directing. It’s starting out far more hokie than even the comic book did in the beginning. On top of that instead of making it a period piece from around the fifties or sixties (I think the original might have been the forties, but I’m not too ure about that) they decided to make it happen today with all of todays technology. That in itself really diminishes the story line if indeed this is supposed to be based around… Read more »
dude it’s a non-cannon show from the D.C universe just enjoy it, it’s not even centrally about Bruce becoming batman that’s just one of the several things happening
Hey Linda Hayes don’t feel back as I haven’t seen the premiere yet either over here in Phoenix AZ! So Yes I agree they need to let us see it first before anyone votes on it!
I liked it. I’m going to watch it again. Please don’t kill it, Fox.
Okay, now we can talk ~ I found it quite entertaining, excellent actors, story, and loved the gritty texture …. I`m in for the long haul
The premise of “Gotham” is great! The person that thought it up is a genius. I filmed it tonight, and look forward to watching it. The previews look VERY interesting.
Geesh, the premiere hasn`t even aired in San Diego yet…Can we see it before we vote? No? I have two words ~ Donal Logue ~ Keep it !!!!
