NBC has decided to cancel their struggling comedy Growing Up Fisher after a single season of 13 episodes. While there won’t be a second season, there are still two new episodes to come.
Growing Up Fisher follows an unorthodox family that becomes closer after the parents divorce. The cast includes Elfman, J. K. Simmons, Eli Baker, Ava Deluca-Verley, and Lance Lim. Jason Bateman is the show’s narrator.
The sitcom started off with okay ratings — at least when compared to NBC’s other comedies. They dropped over the course of the season however and hit a new series low this week with a 1.2 demo rating and 5.05 million total viewers. That surely didn’t help this show’s chances.
There are two unaired episodes remaining and NBC has announced that they will air in a one-hour block on Wednesday, May 28th.
What do you think? Did you like this sitcom? If you ran the network, would you have cancelled it or renewed Growing Up Fisher for season two?
I loved the show. I was very sad the other night when it did not follow About a Boy.
“The Lou Grant Show”, “One Day At A Time”, “The Wonder Years”, “Growing Up Fisher”…..those were the only shows I always made sure to watch.
I couldnt wait for the fall season. I loved it and so did my household. Bring it back please
This was an amazing show & I have been waiting very patiently for the fall for it to begin only to find out it has been cancelled. What the heck. We get a descent show without homosexuality and they cancel it. Bring it back for us to enjoy.
NBC has no decent shows and when they get a good one, they cancel????? This was an awesome show! Bring it back!
Did you get bumped in the head ?? Bring it back.. keep it going!!
This is a fantastic show!! Why are you cancelling it???!!
It’s a shownuff excellent family show. NBC… bring it back! What the heck ??!!
I was looked to see when the show was going to air. I am so sad. I loved this show. I talked about it with friends. I was so touching and heart warming. I loved how at the end of the episode there was a moral to the story, a life lesson learned. The episode where dad hides the dog and makes his son seem like he found the dog. NBC you did not give this a chance. Yet you kept About A Boy, so stupid. Do we care how often the main character has sex.
Growing Up Fisher was one of the best shows aired last fall, c’mon NBC. Since it was truly enjoyable I guess it wasn’t dicey enough for today’s market!
Loved the show, and the fact it was based on a true story made it even more special! The cast was great, really had chemistry. am truly going to miss the show. NBC bring it back!!!
I am so sick of this bull_____. I couldn’t believe it when it happened with The Glades and now Growing Up Fisher. That was an intelligent show with a whole new idea and great cast. WHAT MORE DOES NBC WANT??? Bring it back you MORONS!
I completely AGREE!!!
I loved it! I was looking forward to the return. I don’t know whitch one hit me harder this one or The Glades.
So sad Growing up Fisher was a really FUN sit com I guess sit coms are not what the big network s are going to keep. Unless they are disgusting or controversial .
Totally agree!!! Ludicrous decision on NBC’s part!! We rarely watch NBC anymore because of their show choices. We LOVED Growing Up Fisher! NBC really NEEDS TO BRING IT BACK!
Sadly searched the fall schedule for this show. Really, NBC must stand for No Broadcast Culture. Who needs more American Ninja Warrior? Migraine coming on or is it just nausea.
I enjoyed this show so much also. What a mistake to cancel it! I was sooo looking forward to another season.
