Jack and Ace won’t be back for a third season. Starz has cancelled the Heels series. The second season of 10 episodes finished airing 10 days ago.
A wrestling drama, the Heels TV show looks at the men and women chasing their dreams in small-town pro wrestling. The series stars Stephen Amell, Alexander Ludwig, Alison Luff, Mary McCormack, Kelli Berglund, Allen Maldonado, Chris Bauer, Trey Tucker, Robby Ramos, Alice Barrett Mitchell, Roxton Garcia, David James Elliott, Joel Murray, CM Punk, AJ Mendez, Josh Segarra, and Emmy Raver-Lampman. Set in a close-knit Georgia community, the series revolves around Jack Spade (Amell) and his younger brother, Ace (Ludwig). The story follows a family-owned wrestling organization, Duffy Wrestling League (DWL), and the rivalry between the two brothers as they war over their late father’s legacy. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel. But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to — or hard to leave behind.
Airing on Friday nights, the second season of Heels averaged a 0.01 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 40,000 viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 38% in the demo and down by 57% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (includes DVR playback through 3:00 AM).
With such low ratings and two long industry strikes, the cancellation does not come as a surprise.
What do you think? Have you gotten into the Heels TV show on Starz? Are you disappointed this small town wrestling drama wasn’t renewed for a third season?
I’m one of those overseas who watches this show and there are many more overseas…a real bummer to stop this show it was verry good and now we are stuck with those cliffhangers….. what is going on in the US??? strike after strike but can’t keep a good show alive??
What they do to the fans is BS, they should always give the shown a finale season so they can bring it to a close for the fans who enjoyed the story-line and in this case it was a story-line with to many cliffhangers.
@jeff I 100% agree I am so sick and tired of good/ decent/ GREAT!!! Shows being cancelled because they don’t fit the 18 -49 year old Neilsen rating demographic. Heaven forbid people over 50 still PAY (GOOD MONEY) to watch a TV show in its ENTIRETY, SICK & TIRED of HOLLYWEIRD!!! GREED!!! POLITICAL / FORCED AGENDAS!!! Causing shows to be cancelled . And YES 1 MILLION% Agree they should at THE VERY LEAST, HONOR & ACKNOWLEDGE the fans who have supported the show(s) and AT THE VERY LEAST give fans a 1-2 hour CLOSER / MOVIE ENDING & wrap/ close… Read more »
Too much of this story still to tell. Is Jack paralyzed? Does Wild Bill have a heart attack. And while they are both in hospital, will they discover they are actually Father and son? Willie never had abortion, she let King Spade raise her child. Too much of this story to tell. Please reconsider cancelation.
Please reconsider this show!!! Someone pick it up
!!
This is absolute bs. Show really found itself season 2. Great season finale. So sick of hollyweird and its greed. Ratings were better and needed promotion.
I thought the show was fantastic! VERY DISAPPOINTED THERE WILL BE NO SEASON 3!
Huge disappointment. This show had a vast array of characters worth watching and investing time in. I’m not even a wresting fan but they turned me into one whenever I watched this show. I was so anxious for the next season. AND to leave us hanging like that? Maybe another streaming service will pick it up instead. (Netflix are you reading this?)
I love the show. Should not have been canceled. Lots more stories to be told.
This is ********!!!! 1st ya cancel Highwater now Heels. Meanwhile Hightown is still withering in the wind
Very, very disappointed Heels was cancelled. Maybe promotion poor. Wrestling great but definitely great story. Interest in wrestling not needed.
DARN
Damn! I really liked this show.
What a shame, i really liked ‘Heels’ and the characters were all easy to get into. Ended on a cliffhanger too, guess I’ll have to let my imagination make up a positive outcome for the whole situation. Grateful for what we did get.
That’s disappointing
