Another stellar week for ted and the gang with a 4.5 in the demo and 10.5 million viewers. That was down 14% in the demo from episode two but was still one of the best showings in its history. It’ll be interesting to see what happens once interest in the new Two and a Half Men starts to die down.
Season average: 4.8 in the demo and 11.24 million.
Episode 07-02: Monday, 9/19/11
The second installment of the night did even better than the first, no doubt benefiting heavily from the big Two and a Half Men premiere at 9pm. Episode two registered a 5.2 in the demo with 12.22 million viewers, the show’s best ratings in its seven year history.

CBS gave us a double dose for the season premiere. The first installment attracted a 4.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11 million viewers. That was easily the sitcom’s best premiere and improved over last season’s by 31% in the demo (3.6) and 25% in total viewers (8.79 million).
Reference point: The 2010-11 season averaged a 3.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 8.65 million viewers.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.

Himym is a great show and I can’t believe some of you wasted your time to come here and bad mouth it. dont like it watch the dumbed down version of the show… Friends which was less funny and insightful. As for the comment about adding new characters ie the baby that is the natural progression of the show they couple dates gets maried then has a baby. Shows great better come back for many more seasons, if you think the shows stale you must not be following along very well. Change the channel
The writers of himym have to be one of the most creative I have seen (I don’t watch every show so IMO). Unlike other shows they don’t treat us as if we are dumb for them to not follow through with stuff (the slap bet, the duck tie, the old penny, the goat, to name a few). HIMYM has become very stale. It’s always the same variation on the same plot with no new laughs. At first the plot of a man looking for his future wife, and the mis-steps along the way were entertaining. But now the writer’s are just re-gurgitating the same mis-steps. As for the rest of the story, I find it a lame attempt to duplicate the successes of other shows that have built success on introducing a new baby or new potential relationships. HIMYM has become stale and boring. Either bring in some new ideas, or cancel it.
This show is amazing. Got addicted last year, got caught up and watched every episode. I can watch reruns of this show and never get tired of it!

They still have good ratings. Not sure why you are writing this. They beat Dancing with the Stars and everybody else in the time slot!
I dont know how this show has lasted 8 years let alone 9 this show is not friends and is not funny at all please cancel and put something on in its place thats funny I have watched several ep every year and have not laughed at all
Get a sense of humor then, because everyone loves this show.
I hate using periods they are by far the worst thing ever they are even worse than How I Met Your Mother which is bad because it isn’t Friends which is what I think every show should be like ever because originality and new humor is bad so writers should only make shows like Friends
