Lingo has had its first season cut short. CBS has pulled the game show from the Wednesday night schedule and replaced the series with reruns of popular dramas. However, viewers can rest assured that the game show will return.
Hosted by RuPaul Charles, the Lingo series has already been renewed for the 2023-24 season, and the remaining first season episodes will be added to season two.
The move is possibly due to potential strikes in the industry. Contracts with the Writers Guild, Directors Guild, and SAG-AFTRA all expire in the coming months. Networks are trying to prepare for possible production delays that will impact the fall television season by filming early and trying to stockpile content.
CBS revealed more about the plans for Lingo in a press release.
Encores of CBS dramas will air in place of the previously scheduled LINGO on Wednesdays (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT). LINGO was recently ordered for a second season and the remaining four original episodes will be scheduled for next season.

I watch survivor and Lingo .Rupaul is awesome. I don’t want to watch those other shows you replaced with lingo.

My friend and I love game shows. We eagerly anticipated this one. What a brain challenger it is ! RuPa is witty and charming. Please bring it back we are fans.

i feel bad for the contestants who thought they would see themselves in the next few weeks, now have to wait til 2024 to watch the episode they appear on.
Too flamboyant for weekly network television. Sorry. He’s better than expected but too unusual.

CBS replacing Lingo on Wed. nights at 9 with reruns of drama shows is ridiculous! Viewers want new material not reruns!

It is a very entertaining show. Ru Paul does a great job.
Ultimately RuPaul does one thing well, drag and most stuff to do with Drag, but in mainstream arenas he/she is considerably less adept it seems at understanding what works and how to play to the audience – i watched one episode of this and that was enough, besides the premise for the show being rubbish and the prizes are pointless and the contestants aren’t exactly up for Mensa, the whole enterprise just needs to heavy ho… Ru should do what Ru does best and stop trying to be someone he/she is not (an actor or tv presenter outside of the… Read more »
Why not just give the 9pm slot to True Lies? Weird!
local news want a good lead in show, airing survivor and true lies both new episodes followed by a repeat could hurt the 11pm news in the ratings for that station
If these writers strike yet again this could be the final nail in the coffin for scripted TV shows. Every time they strike more and more people choose to tune out and not come back.
Scripted TV shows are a hell of a lot better than this reality garbage game shows which are easy to produce. But then again Chuck Lorre his garbage way of making scripts it’s not helping Divide of the writers problem.
